We're a pet-loving couple with years of experience caring for our own cats and dogs, as well as a wide variety of other animals. We know that every pet has their own personality, routines, and quirks, and we believe great pet care means getting to know each animal and helping them feel safe, comfortable, and happy in their own home. After taking a little time away to grieve some recent losses in our own furry family, our home feels a bit too quiet these days. We’re returning to pet sitting to channel that extra love and attention into caring for your animals to give them the best they deserve during difficult times when you're away. Between us, we've cared for cats, dogs, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, rabbits, hermit crabs, and even insects and spiders! We're happy to learn about your pet's individual needs and follow your instructions carefully, whether that means sticking to a familiar feeding routine, providing playtime and companionship, or simply giving a more independent pet the space they prefer. Cat care For cat visits, we generally attend together so your cats can enjoy the extra companionship, play, and socialization that comes with two caring people. In some circumstances, I (Tamara) may attend on my own. Whether your cat is a social butterfly who loves interactive wand toys and chin scratches or a more reserved feline who prefers quiet company from across the room, we respect their boundaries and let them set the pace. We are happy to help with fresh water, measured feeding, meticulous litter tray maintenance, grooming, medication administration, and plenty of cuddles (if invited!). We’ll also send you photo and video updates so you can see how happy they are while you're away. For overnight stays, both of us will be right there in your home to provide round-the-clock comfort, keep your cats company, and maintain their usual daily routines in their familiar surroundings. Because we are both present, your cats get consistent attention, play, and security, ensuring they feel safe and cared for all night long. Dog care Whether your dog is a high energy adventurer who needs a vigorous run or a senior pup who prefers a gentle stroll and plenty of sniffing time, CJ provides customized dog walks tailored to your dog’s age, breed, and fitness level. We focus on making walks a fun, safe, and enriching experience, allowing plenty of time for exploration, mental stimulation, and bathroom breaks. For overnight stays, both of us will be right there in your home to keep your dog company, maintain their regular feeding and sleeping schedules, and give them all the love and security they are used to. Because we're a team of two, your dog gets double the attention, meaning they're rarely left alone for long stretches. We'll stick closely to your rules regarding furniture privileges, crate training, medication administration, and bedtime routines, ensuring a stress-free experience for your pup while you're away. Why a two-person team? Solo pet sitters often face a tough time constraint: trying to squeeze in the "unfun" chores (like cleaning, medication schedules, etc) alongside the vital "fun" stuff (playtime, snuggles, and socialization). Because there's only one of them, something often has to give. As a team of two, we divide and conquer. That means 100% of the time, your pets get the rich socialization and attention they crave while all the necessary chores are handled seamlessly and simultaneously, nothing gets rushed, and nothing gets missed. Care that suits your pet We understand how important it is to feel comfortable leaving your pets in someone else's care. We'll take the time to understand your instructions, respect your home, and keep you updated while you're away. We want you to be able to enjoy your time away knowing your animals are being well looked after. Whether your pet is outgoing, shy, playful, elderly, or simply happiest doing their own thing, we'd love to hear about them and see if we're a good fit! A quick note about location and travel fees: Pawshake occasionally displays our distance from clients inaccurately. We’re based in the Pape Village neighbourhood and offer services within a 2 km radius. For bookings outside this area, a $5 travel fee applies per round trip. This means $5 per single daily home visit, and $10 per day for two home visits, or for an overnight stay. We’ll always discuss any applicable travel fees with you in advance and confirm your approval before finalizing the booking. Thank you for your understanding!
