My name is Khadijah, and I am a Naturopathic Doctor and an
animal lover. Animals have been my
number one passion ever since I was young. I grew up with a cat and was determined to work in the animal field. I did a lot of work and volunteering within the veterinary medicine field, until I decided I wanted explore more about the connection between animals and humans. I strongly believe in the therapeutic effect of animals and had some experience with natural pet care when my dog got sick, and that is what pushed me to go into Naturopathic Medicine. During the time leading up to my career path shift, I volunteered and worked in many veterinary clinics, shelters and research facilities where I provided hands-on
medical care for dogs and cats. When my dog Zen got sick, I researched naturopathic
remedies that helped me get 3 more years with her. I love natural health and have never looked back, but I miss being immersed in animal care and definitely miss all the animal love.
I started cat sitting with another company last year where I would care for cats in my home. That company is no longer around, and I would love nothing more than to continue cat sitting. I am passionate about cats, LOVE cuddles and absolutely adore spoiling kitties and helping them stay stress-free while they are in my home. I understand on a very deep level how much a pet is a family member and how hard it can be to leave them behind when you are away. It fills me with so much happiness to be able to shower your kitty (or 2!) with lots of love.
I work at a naturopathic clinic 3 days a week, and the other days I am usually home or out of the house for a couple hours at a time. I am quite a homebody and love to stay home cuddled on the couch with a fur baby. I love having kitties curled up in my bed at night, and will try to keep the routine you have with your cat the same in my home. Most of my family lives in another city, so having a little buddy to spend my time with is so special to me. I keep a close eye on kittys' health (can't help it!), and will notify you immediately if I notice anything out of the ordinary. I have a car and am able to visit a vet if ever needed.
I will send you updates and pictures as often as you would like, but definitely in the first 24 and 48 hours so you don't have to be worried. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out!
I live on my own in a one bedroom apartment on the second floor of the building. It is fully carpeted except for the kitchen and bathroom. The carpet is tightly knit so there isn't usually an issue with cats scratching but if nails are long they can sometimes get caught in the carpet. My living room is very large and spacious with a big window where most cats like to lounge. I allow guest kitties to sleep in my bed with me if that is what they like, and other than that they get free range of the home (including the couch). I keep my balcony door closed and locked most of the time and all my windows lock as well. I keep the litter box in the bathroom which they always have full access to.
- Email/Text updates as frequently as needed
- Feeding schedule as requested
- Monitoring feeding and litterbox habits
- Daily playing (if cat enjoys toys)
- If cat is used to getting a particular medication like insulin injections or an oral medication, I am comfortable administering
Highly recommended! My kitty loved her :) 2 weeks of vacation and no stress whatsoever knowing my cats in great hands
We left our kitty with Khadijah for a week and are very happy with the care she provided. Khadijah was very good at communicating with us while away and sent us pictures of Coco. When we brought Coco home, she was relaxed and not stressed at all. We know from Coco’s behaviour that she was well taken care of. Khadijah also followed up to see how Coco settled in at home. I highly recommend Khadijah as a kitty host.
