When I was young, I had two lovebirds that sparked my love for animals. Although they are no longer with me, my passion for animals has never faded.
Last year, I cared for a Standard Poodle for five weeks. During that time, I learned how much pets rely on their caregivers for attention, comfort, and routine. We usually went on 30-minute walks to a nearby park, where we would play catch and spend time outdoors until he was ready to rest. This experience taught me responsibility, patience, and the importance of building trust with animals.
I have also cared for a friend's senior cat, visiting twice a day to provide food, companionship, and medication every 12 hours. While giving medication could sometimes be challenging, the time I spent with her was both meaningful and rewarding. During that summer, I successfully cared for both the dog and cat by maintaining a consistent schedule and making sure each pet received the attention and care they needed.
For the past two years, I have volunteered at Burnaby Nature House, where I have learned more about local wildlife and helped educate visitors about the natural environment. These experiences inspired me to enroll in the Biology program at SFU, and I am currently considering a future in animal behaviour studies.
Your pet's safety and comfort are my priorities. I make sure any small objects that could be swallowed are kept out of reach, and I always pay close attention to each pet's needs and behaviour. Pet owners can expect regular walks, fresh food and water, plenty of affection, and attentive care tailored to their pet's personality. When multiple pets are together, I'll monitor their interactions and determine if they are friendly to one another. In times of emergency, I would evaluate the seriousness of the situation, and either ask friends and family for help, or directly ask the owner for advices.
I recently graduated from high school and am available throughout July. During the school year, I will continue to have a flexible schedule, as my university classes are typically later in the day. I look forward to meeting your pet and providing a safe, caring, and enjoyable experience while you're away.
