About Angie
Hello, My name is Angie and I am an animal lover. I have always gravitated towards animals when they are nearby and I can’t resist trying to connect with animals whenever possible. My first real animal connection happened when at age 7 my parents got us a cat! We had our family cat Smudge for over 20 years. So of course I then got a cat of my own, Gracie, who I shared a home with for over 11 years. She was an amazing little social kitty who passed away in December 2019 due to illness. During her final years I administered oral medications daily so am familiar with medications if required. I have also administered daily pills in the past but am unable to do injections. As of April 2020 I also have a new kitty in my life named Nala.
I volunteered at a cat shelter in New Westminster every other weekend for over 14 years. This is the shelter where I got my Gracie. Since I have volunteered for many years I am comfortable and familiar with a variety of cats. During my shifts at the shelter I fed, cleaned litter boxes, did laundry and monitored their health. I also got to play and cuddle with many of the cats. I loved to give them special food and treats while they waited for a worthy person to take them home. Unfortunately the shelter closed in October 2019 so now I am searching for a new volunteer opportunity that involves animals.
I have pet sit for friends before and I know it can be challenging to find someone to look after a pet when taking holidays. I personally struggled to leave my kitty when I went on vacation and only wanted to leave her with very trustworthy and loving people. That is why I became an occasional pet sitter. I want to offer pet owners someone who will take the best care of their beloved kitty when they are away. I offer a daily stop in for minimum of 30 minutes at your home to look in on your cat(s) (feed, scoop litter, change water, cuddle and anything else required). I am also happy to water plants and pick up your mail while you are away.
I can also offer dog walking but only in evenings or weekends as I work a typical office schedule during the day on weekdays. I have family with a medium sized dog named Chummy (a golden doddle) who is super sweet and I walk everyday when we are visiting the Comox valley where she lives. Therefore I have experience with dog walking and am comfortable around all sized dogs. I can pick up your dog and take for a minimum 30 minute walk- usually around your neighbourhood.
I prefer to work within 4km of my home near royal oak skytrain (basically south and central Burnaby and parts of New Westminster area, into East Vancouver). I am also open to further distances if requested but only for once a day visits. Looking forward to meeting you and your furry family member(s).
