About O'Neill
🐾 Experienced Dog Care, Boarding & Behavioral Support
Hi, I'm O'Neill. I have approximately 10 years of hands-on experience caring for dogs through professional daycare, boarding, pet sitting, transportation, and private in-home care.
I've worked in professional dog daycare environments and have also provided private boarding and long-term care.
My experience includes working with senior dogs, energetic dogs, different temperaments, and dogs requiring individualized attention.
I have a strong understanding of canine behavior and communication and pay close attention to body language, stress signals, arousal levels, social interactions, and environmental triggers.
My goal is simple: to understand the dog in my care and provide the environment and routine that works best for them.
🏠 Dog Boarding
I provide in-home boarding in my home, and depending on the situation, I am also comfortable providing boarding in the owner's home.
I generally accept up to two dogs at a time, provided they are compatible with one another. I evaluate each dog's temperament and comfort level before having dogs share an environment.
For dogs who require one-on-one care, I can provide an individualized boarding arrangement.
Your dog's comfort matters
I am flexible with sleeping arrangements.
If your dog is accustomed to sleeping on the bed and you are comfortable with that, I don't mind them sleeping with me.
If your dog normally sleeps in their own bed, I recommend bringing their bed so they have something familiar. For crate-trained dogs who normally sleep in a crate, you can bring their crate as well.
Maintaining familiar routines can help dogs feel more comfortable while their family is away.
🐕 Walks & Exercise
Typical walks are 45 minutes to one hour, depending on the individual dog.
I take the dog's age, energy level, physical ability, temperament, and behavioral needs into consideration rather than using the exact same routine for every dog.
Senior dogs or dogs with specific needs may require a slower pace or a different type of activity, while younger or more energetic dogs may benefit from additional exercise and enrichment.
🏡 Home Visits
Home visits are generally 30–60 minutes, depending on the dog's needs.
Visits can include:
Feeding
Bathroom breaks
Walks
Play and enrichment
Companionship
General care and supervision
Following the owner's established routine
I also have previous experience providing home visits for both dogs and cats while their owners were away.
🧠 Canine Behavior & Individualized Care
I believe that behavior is communication.
After years of working directly with dogs, I've learned that it's important to pay attention to why a dog is behaving a certain way rather than simply reacting to the behavior.
I'm comfortable working with dogs who may be nervous, excitable, overstimulated, reactive, or require additional structure and patience.
I've recently provided long-term, one-on-one boarding for a reactive dog, including managing reactivity toward other dogs, bicycles, and people riding skateboards.
This required careful observation, structured walks, appropriate distance from triggers, and adjusting the dog's environment and routine according to his individual needs.
I also have experience with basic obedience and behavior-focused training, including leash manners, impulse control, attention, focus, and helping dogs develop more appropriate responses to their environment.
❤️ Supervision & Safety
When a dog is in my care, I am very hands-on and attentive.
I generally remain with the dogs and provide close supervision throughout the day. I don't routinely leave dogs alone for extended periods.
If a dog is comfortable being left alone and their owner has approved it, the longest I would typically be away from home would be approximately 5–10 minutes for a quick essential errand.
Dogs requiring continuous supervision or one-on-one care would be accommodated accordingly.
💊 Medication Support
I am comfortable administering:
Oral medications
Topical medications
I will follow the owner's instructions carefully and maintain the dog's normal medication schedule.
🐾 My Approach
Every dog is different.
Some dogs want constant companionship. Some need space. Some thrive around other dogs, while others are more comfortable receiving one-on-one attention.
I take the time to learn your dog's personality, routine, likes, dislikes, triggers, communication, and individual needs before and during their stay.
My priority is for your dog to feel safe, comfortable, understood, and cared for while you're away.
I'd be happy to discuss your dog's needs before booking so we can make sure the arrangement is a good fit.
