About Chenxuan
Hi all! I am a Life Sciences student at the University of Toronto and a lifelong animal lover. My family has had dogs since I was four years old, so caring for dogs has always been a natural part of my life. I currently raise and care for my own Westie independently, which has given me hands-on experience with daily routines, feeding, walking, enrichment, grooming, and understanding individual dog personalities and needs.
I am especially interested in positive reinforcement training and animal welfare. My own dog and I have completed a Dog Foundations training course together, and I enjoy continuing to learn about dog behaviour, communication, and reward-based training methods.
Dog Walking & Drop-in Visits
I offer walks and drop-in visits tailored to each dog's age, energy level, personality, and usual routine. Walks are typically 30–60 minutes, depending on the booking and your dog's needs. I prefer quieter neighbourhood streets, sidewalks, and nearby green spaces, with plenty of opportunities for sniffing and exploring. I am happy to follow your preferred routes and adjust the pace and distance for puppies, senior dogs, or dogs with different exercise needs.
For drop-in visits, I can help with feeding, refreshing water, potty breaks, playtime, enrichment, and companionship. I will also make sure your pet is comfortable and settled before leaving. Please note that I do not administer medications.
Doggy Daycare
For daycare, my goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, and home-like environment where dogs can enjoy a balance of exercise, mental stimulation, companionship, and rest.
A typical daycare day includes potty breaks, walks, supervised playtime, enrichment activities, meals if needed, and quiet time for relaxing or napping. I understand that dogs need rest just as much as activity, so I will never force interaction or play if a dog would rather relax.
My home has an open living area with space for dogs to move around and relax. I also have a separate enclosed area equipped with a crate, water bowl, and potty tray, as well as indoor gates that allow me to separate spaces when needed. These areas can be used for individual rest, gradual introductions, or giving dogs their own space. I also use non-slip floor mats to help dogs feel more secure and comfortable while moving around indoors.
For safety, I have a gate at the entry hallway to help prevent dogs from rushing toward the door or slipping out when someone is entering or leaving the home. I aim to create a calm and secure environment, especially for small dogs or dogs that may become overexcited around the doorway.
I also have my own Westie at home, so I will always discuss your dog's temperament, social preferences, and compatibility with other dogs before accepting a daycare booking. Introductions and interactions will be carefully supervised, and dogs can be separated when necessary.
During daycare, dogs may be left without direct supervision for less than 2 hours if needed, but I always prioritize safety, a secure setup, and each dog's comfort.
Personalized Care & Communication
When caring for your pet, I will carefully follow your instructions, including feeding schedules, dietary requirements, walking routines, training preferences, and any special needs you would like me to be aware of. I understand that every pet has their own routine, personality, and comfort level, and I will always try to keep their day as familiar and stress-free as possible.
I also know how important it is to feel reassured when someone else is caring for your pet. For walks and drop-in visits, I will send you a message when I arrive and again before I leave. For daycare, I will provide photos and updates throughout the day so you always know how your dog is doing.
My goal is to provide attentive, patient, and dependable care while treating every animal with the same kindness and respect that I give my own dog.
