*Please note we are no longer providing home visits to new clients.
**Additionally, we do not board dogs - only cats and small animals.
***As of September 10, 2022 our team has been split up, with Holly moving into a new apartment with her partner. Pamela is still running the Meowington Home at the original address with a second location now available for overflow bookings on Chemin de la Cote-Des-Neiges.
Welcome to Sir Ralph Meowington's Home for Vacationing Pets!
My name is Pamela and I started running the Meowington Home with my daughter Holly on January 1, 2022. The idea of boarding cats came to us as a way of creating a legacy for Holly's best friend, Sir Ralph Meowington, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in December of 2021. He had been one of the few constants in Holly's life for the past decade, and replacing him seemed unthinkable (in the attached photos, he's the polydactyl ginger boi who likes shoulders).
Without committing to another cat of our own, we thought that we could provide a service to others, and still have that wonderful cat energy in our space, which we love. And we've been having a great time!
With Holly moving on to a new apartment, I will be running the Meowington Home on my own. I will be staying in the same apartment we were sharing, so former clients will know where to find me, and my return kitty guests will feel right at home. For overflow boarding bookings, Holly's new apartment will be available.
I am a writer and artist working from home and living a fairly solitary lifestyle. I occasionally have a few friends over, all of whom are pet-lovers.
Whether I am working at my desk or curled up reading in a chair, there is always room on my lap for a visiting kitty. When it's time to play, we will do that, too!
I am double vaxxed and triple boosted at this time.
I live in a 5 1/2 near Monkland on the edge of Westmount. It is a quiet, clean building, and I keep a peaceful atmosphere in my home. There is a ton of space for cats to explore and play, comfy beds, hiding spots, window sills, and a cat tree/house. The large entryway/dining room/living room is especially great for the zoomies.
I have a small balcony but am very cautious with opening the door and hyper paranoid about letting kitties out. That being said, if your cat likes to sit outside and is calm, please feel free to mention it to me and I will bring them out for some fresh air while holding them safe in my arms or on a harness if you have provided one. Ralph loved to do this. :)
My apartment is also cat-safe! They will not find any dangerous plants to munch on or anything else like that.
For small mammals I have lots of room for cages to be set up, including two closed rooms for safety. If you are concerned about your small animal being here at the same time as a cat, even if they are separated, just let me know and I will not double book.
I have had pets in my home my entire life. Since the age of 13, I've never been without one or more cats, and added to that I have sometimes had budgies, rats, hamsters, gerbils, a small dog, and one fabulous hedgehog.
I have had three cats with kidney disease, and am well-versed in giving oral medication as well as subcutaneous fluids.
I am a cat whisperer when it comes to claw clipping! If your cat is not a fan and they need their claws clipped, just let me know and I will get it done with minimal complaint :)
WHAT I PROVIDE (Boarding)
I provide 24/7 care. I am almost always at home, except for the occasional need to run errands or get some outdoor exercise.
Room for multiple cats from the *same* household. I do not board multiple households of cats at one time. For caged pets, I can take multiple households unless there is a request made not to.
Potential boarding situations include:
-1 cat(s) household
-1 cat(s) household + 1 caged pet household (separated from the cat(s)
-2-3 caged pet households
Tons of sleeping options. Cats can sleep solo in the cat house, on the day bed, or in bed with me if they like to cuddle.
Toys and a great little cat house for climbing and hiding!
A litter box that is cleaned thoroughly between visits. But, I do not provide litter. You will need to bring your own litter.
Dishes. But, I do not provide food. You will need to bring your cat's food and let me know how you prefer for them to be fed (timing, quantity, etc.)
Access to nearby vets in case of emergency. I have one that's open Monday-Friday and is a 6 minute walk away. The other is a 10 minute walk away and open on the weekends as well.
Updates as frequently as you like! I know how important it is to feel assured that your pet is doing well, so if you want me to bombard you with photos and stories, I will do exactly that. :)
WHAT I PROVIDE (Home Visits)
On a limited basis, I can make home visits within a catchment area of a 25-minute walk from my home. I do not have a vehicle, and sometimes cannot offer this service for seasonal reasons. But if we do set this up, I will spend 30 minutes in your home for feeding, cleaning the litter box, and playing with your kitty. Then you will receive a daily report card from me through the Pawshake website, including photos. :)

Flexibility, love, and dedication are three things I see as key to animal care, and I know how to follow through on each one. Having provided care for three kidney cats as well as other cats with behavioural issues (anger in one, extreme shyness in the other), I am very good at adapting to exactly what your pet requires when it comes to care.
I can't wait to meet your amazing companion animal(s) !

Exceptional as always!
Nigel loved his stay at the annex! The space was spacious with many rooms and windows for him to explore.
I also apreciated the oportunity to check it out ahead of time, as well as the photo updates periodically during his stay; was quite reassuring for his first overnight stay away from home!
