About Andrea
**SERVICE UPDATE: I was involved in a major vehicle collision and am undergoing physiotherapy. I will not be able to accommodate dog walking contracts at the moment. However, I can still do daily visits for pets, including feeding, litter box cleaning, and house checks.**
**SERVICE UPDATE: DUE TO COVID-19, CATCHMENT AREA HAS BEEN REDUCED TO SUDBURY ONLY**
Having been around animals my entire life, and fostering many furbabies over the years, your furry family member(s) will be treated with the utmost respect and love. Leaving for even just a few days can be heart-wrenching for both the animal and the owner, but I can help with that. I know how important it is that your cat/dog be in familiar territory with their own blankets and toys. Your pets will get more than just the basic food and water, they'll get lots of play time, long walks (+30 minutes unless inclement weather), brushes and bath (if necessary), and tons of cuddles! I'll work with your schedule and try to keep things as close to the way you look after them so they don't get separation anxiety. Your furbaby deserves only the best treatment and as much attention as possible! I also offer things like bringing in mail or being at your home of you're expecting a delivery, taking out garbage/recycling, leaving lights on so people think there's someone home...all free of charge.
WHAT TO DO NEXT: MEET & GREET
If you are interested in booking me to look after your furry/feathered friends, please DO NOT book me before scheduling a Meet & Greet first. This is a great opportunity for us to meet each other and for your pets to meet me as well. We'll have the opportunity to go over what your expectations are for my visits with your loved ones, as well as go over any details regarding feeding, litterbox cleaning, routines, medications, etc. It's also the perfect time to ask any questions you have about myself or how the Pawshake system works. PLEASE NOTE, THE MEET & GREET IS A PRE-REQUISITE. I will not accept any petsitting contracts without first having met you and your pets.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
~Leave on background noise. A radio or TV on low volume can help your furbaby feel like they're not alone, alleviating stress;
~Leave a light on. Even though most animals can see relatively well in low light, it's comforting for animals to have a lamp or night-light on in the evening hours;
~Prepare your trip more than a week in advance. Most travelers tend to pack up and leave within 24-48 hours, leaving your pet confused and frightened. If this happens repeatedly, just bringing out the suitcase can cause serious anxiety. Consider leaving out your empty suitcase for a few days so your pet can become accustomed to the different smells and so it won't be such a shock when they wake up and you're gone;
~When you come back, praise your pet and show them affection. Unpacking can wait for 10-15 minutes while you tell them that you've missed them.
**Please book AT LEAST 7 days in advance, and inquiries 14 days in advance**
