About Sarah
Hi! I'm Sarah. I'm in my 30s and I have been teaching grade 7 and 8 French (among other subjects) for 10 years. Please read the "Things to Know" section below before sending me a message.
THINGS TO KNOW
- All boarding pets must be comfortable on a leash, be house-trained, and show basic obedience (e.g. coming when called, staying near owner, stay, no, off, down, etc.)
- My home/away time differs depending on the time of year:
- September 1 - June 30: I am out of the house from 7:30-4:30 from Monday to Friday
- July 1 - August 31: I am home most of the time and my schedule is flexible.
3. To reduce stress for pet, sitter, and owners, make sure your pet has already experienced extended time away from you prior to their stay in my home (i.e., has stayed at home while you go to work, attend a party etc.). This reduces their separation anxiety, and decreases the chance of unwanted behaviours like aggression, chewing, or having accidents in the house.
4. Make sure your dog knows how to use the stairs independently: I have 2 flights of stairs, and the living areas are on the top 2 floors of the house.
5. Dogs away from home sometimes resort to chewing when they're anxious; make sure they have plenty of long-lasting chew toys and treats to occupy them while they settle in.
6. Habits and dietary needs differ pet to pet. Please provide all the necessary supplies for your pet (food, treats, leash, crate/bed, favourite toys, bowls, etc). If you need a list to get you started, please ask!
About Me and My Services:
I've grown up around both cats and dogs, have shared a variety of small animals with my sister, and love spending time with others' furry friends. When you look through my gallery, you'll see little-me with our first family pet, Angus. I would love to enjoy the comfort of having an animal around the house again! I'm able to give your pet attention in a non-smoking, child- and pet-free home (unless you count the fish in my 75-gallon aquarium).
About My Home:
I own a 3-storey, 3-bedroom townhouse in a quiet, family-oriented neighbourhood. There are parks and trails nearby, and many pet owners, pet lovers, and children in the neighbourhood. My 20x20 ft backyard is fully fenced and offers a combination of sun and shade for relaxing in the fresh air. Indoors, I have lots of warm living room sunshine to curl up in, too! At night, your pet is welcome to snuggle up, find their own space around my home, or can be crated at night, according to your preference.
What You Can Expect:
Your dog can expect walks according to their schedule, play time, and time out in the backyard during the nice weather. As I only take on one boarder at a time, they'll have my full attention. Depending on the day, your furry family member might get a chance to meet my pet-loving friends and family who often gather together. On the weekends, there will be extra love and cuddles when my partner joins us - he's never met an animal he didn't want to shower with affection.
If you live in Milton and have a cat or other animal that doesn't travel, I can visit your home to make sure everything is in order. My area for home visits is the are of Milton bordered by the 401, James Snow Pkwy, Britannia Rd. and Tremaine Rd. See my photo albums for a map.
Don't need a daily home visit? Make sure you select "non-consecutive days" when contacting me.
