Retirement has given me the opportunity to spend my time doing something I truly enjoy — caring for animals. I have always been a devoted pet owner and understand how important it is for pets to feel safe, loved, and comfortable while their owners are away. I currently have two cats of my own who are cherished members of my family, and I previously cared for my beloved dog for 12 wonderful years. That experience taught me the importance of patience, routine, compassion, and attentive care throughout every stage of a pet’s life. It wasn't until a year after adopting my dog that it became apparent that she suffered from seizures. The vet said that unless she had them frequently, the best thing I could do for her would be to just be there for her, talk to her, and comfort her during an episode. Thankfully they only happened 2 or 3 times a year but I could always tell when one was about to happen so I was able to prepare myself.  

I’ve cared for my friend’s two tri-pawed dogs through overnight stays in their home, helping maintain their routine and comfort. One dog experiences anxiety, so I’m experienced with calm, patient care and creating a reassuring environment for pets with special emotional or mobility needs. I’ve also boarded my neighbour’s Goldendoodle during family vacations several times. She became the only dog my cats were comfortable around, which reflects my patient approach to creating calm, safe introductions between pets 

Becoming a pet sitter allows me to combine my love for animals with the extra time and flexibility I now have in retirement. I enjoy providing companionship, playtime, walks, feeding, and plenty of affection to pets in their familiar environment. I know how much trust pet owners place in someone caring for their animals, and I take that responsibility seriously. My goal is to give pet owners peace of mind knowing their pets are being treated with the same kindness, attention, and love that I give my own pets every day.
