From a family dog while I was growing up to pet sitting in a number of different cities/countries, I’ve been responsible for plenty of cats and dogs over the years, and I’m excited to continue doing just that. I’ve been lucky enough to share spaces with animals both young and old, as well as large and small. Along with that, I’ve handled providing medications, IVs, special diets, and other unique requirements (such as taking care of elderly, blind animals) during a number of sits.
Also, I’m comfortable with being out of my element, whether that involves language, culture, or something else. I’ve lived on my own and travelled to numerous different countries for extended periods of time, which has helped me develop the ability to solve problems independently.
Over the years, I’ve also developed the skills to live in a variety of settings, including both city and rural locations. From plotting a route with public transit to starting a fire, I’m capable of using Google Maps just as much as I am an axe.

Speaking of the pet care experience, I had around 12 years experiences with dogs as I grew up from a family with 7 poodles  (See last few pics of my profile). I grew up with lots of loves from them and unfortunately they are gradually came to the age that needs to be provided senior cares since last couple years🥲 So I did took care of them in their senior age before I moved out from my home country.
I got my little guy last year when I moved to Toronto - a beagle mix, from his 3 mo old till now at his 1.5 yo. He is well trained inside the house and in the outside. He has a lot of energy, and I usually walked him 3 times a day with a hour long walk before sunset and dedicated playtime for him. He is a super friendly lovely cutie who loves to be in a huge dog park with all the giant dogs around him, he is also friendly with small dog as he play pretty gently.

I often travel, and am now a digital nomad, so I can't responsibly have pets of my own. I'm making up for it by being of service to you and your pets.&nbsp;
I have a world class (human) mental health and communication background, and have taught at a university level. I understand animal communication, and have a knack for building trust and bonding with animals.&nbsp;
Recently, a vicious pitbull - kidnapped as a puppy and forced to fight in underground arenas, who hates men especially, and can't leave the house without trying to murder anything that moves - stepped gingerly up onto my lap and kissed my face. This is a day in the life for me.
When I'm in the city I have been helping my fellow traveling friends to house sit, and have been walking and doing basic training with puppies since elementary school with treats, eye contact, and modified clicker(-free) training and behavioural conditioning.
I do not use punishment as a discipline tactic.&nbsp;
I can brush and clip nails, manage special diets, and deliver medicine if necessary. If they are on a schedule, please have it in writing, and sent by email. I will take photos to show completion of time-sensitive activities/routines, and stay in touch about any changes or challenges.&nbsp;
If my availability shows as open, it means I'm in town, and I can stay for just about any length of time. You may have to check in with me for bookings over a month.&nbsp;
Your home is sacred and I will treat it as such:
Beyond personal hygiene and cleanliness, you can expect basic upkeep and homemaking (my mother taught me well), and if your pet takes homemade meals I am, in fact, a chef fantastique.
If you have a garden - either outdoor or indoor you can count on my green thumb and passion for plants to keep your blooming bébés alive and thriving.&nbsp;
You want to feel secure when leaving your pet in the care of someone, and I can offer you that security and peace of mind if my availability is open.&nbsp;
Also, if they don't bring in the newspaper, I will!
I will regularly update you on the status of your home and pet. If you receive mail or visitors you can count at least a daily update. Or, if you prefer to be left alone or more frequently updated, that can be arranged too.&nbsp;
I'm a digital nomad so my schedule is flexible.&nbsp;
I am fit, and can take your pooch for runs, I can and do play, occasionally for hours, and definitely multiple times a day. I don't have a driver's license, so you may want to keep that in mind if you have appointments more than a 1hr walk away, or if your appointment isn't TTC accessible.&nbsp;
WiFi is non negotiable, and the password must be photographed and sent to me before you leave for your trip because I work from home, and any details regarding your internet service provider should be available, in case the internet goes down for more than a couple days, or at least accessible to you so you can send me the details. I can also supervise home care/construction, and/or let workers in and out, document their work and attendance, but I need to know if there will be noise to prepare my workday.&nbsp;
Any expenses such as food, medicine, grooming, or appointments must be paid for/ purchased in advance, or funds must be available for me to purchase. Receipts will be collected, and any additional fees paid out of pocket will be documented and must be reimbursed. We love good karma! All bookings are done through the site, and I don't take tips.&nbsp;
I always keep at least a few days' buffer after our booking in case your flight or gets cancelled or your travel plans change for whatever reason and you need me to stay longer. Standard rates apply, but I will be amenable to sudden changes in plans unless otherwise noted. I prefer to have a local emergency contact in case I can't get a hold of you, as well as the contact of your vet, and any home or pet service providers you anticipate might be involved in you or your pet's life while you are gone - all in writing and sent by email.&nbsp;

Hi there! My name's Santiago and I'm currently working in downtown Toronto. I live with one roommate and sadly my dog lives with my parents back home, so I figured I will give Pawshake a try :)
I enjoy meeting people and their pets, and this seems like a great way to hang out with animals while helping me to find some additional work outside of my job. About myself, I graduated from university here a few years ago after moving from Colombia. My close friend, Pepe the cocker spaniel, is back there with my family. Being highly active myself, I love going for long walks and checking out new places in the city. I'm sure your dog will enjoy exploring the outdoors with me and being my exercise buddy. 
I'm also open to hosting animals in my apartment. I have quite a bit of space and a lot of natural lighting. Overnight visits are fine, as I work from home most days and can wake up early for walks. There are no other pets living in the apartment, so your pet's safety is promised. I prefer to sit only pets that are potty-trained (so if your cat can use a litter box or if your dog isn't prone to accidents, then great!) pets that are vaccinated are also preferable and if they get along with other animals (this is so that walks are safe). 
I also offer drop in visits and will make sure to timely respond to inquiries about your loved ones :) if you need any other services while you are away, for example, watering plants or doing some light clean up, I'm perfectly fine with this too. 
I live in a 2 bedroom apartment with a big living room and a balcony, with most of room for a dog to walk around. Don River Valley Park is a walk away from my house, a perfect spot to run and even meet some furry friends for any dog. I'm in Toronto year round so if we are a good fit, I'd be happy to pet sit again for you in the future! 

As a long time pet owner I believe no home is complete without a dog and no outfit is complete without some dog hair.I have shared my home with dogs all of my life and understand the challenge of finding 'just like home' pet care when you need to leave your treasured pets. For the past three years I have been taking dogs into my home and providing a loving and safe environment for them. I have a fully enclosed backyard for them to play in and they get the run of the house. I started taking care of pets as a favour to our friends and family, but found that it's very rewarding and was advised to do it as a profession.I have experience with administering oral medication and topical care, special diets, managing senior dogs, etc.I also recognize the need for some pets to stay comfortable and relaxed during separation and as a result have also provided 'stay at home' care. I visit the home multiple times a day to ensure the care and attention required is provided.While pets are with us, they become one of the family and are included in our daily activities. Of course, ultimately, you will choose the length per walk, and the frequencies of the walks and visits, etc.We have a very energetic and playful 9 year old dog who enjoys visiting guests ( small and big ones) ; she's a mixed of English Bulldog and Miniature Dachschund, and weighs 28lbs; so I would ask that your dog play well with others.I prefer to provide one-on-one attention , unless your family owns more than 1 dog/cat; I do not pack walk.We can provide pick up and drop off services at your convenience. Depending on the distance from your home to ours, there will be an additional, but reasonable small fee for the pick up and drop off services. In regard to home visits, there will also be an additional charge if the one way distance from your home to ours is more than 10kms.
