I've grown up around dogs my whole life and truly love being around them. From caring for neighborhood dogs, to adopting our first family dog, to raising my own dog from a puppy, dogs have always been a big part of my life.I'm comfortable with all kinds of personalities - whether your dog is calm, energetic, shy, or needs a little extra patience. I take the time to build trust, keep them safe, and make sure they feel happy and cared for while they're with me. 
I always include walks, playtime and mental stimulation. They will be kept inside the apartment able to free roam as they please. I'll treat your dog like my own and make sure they get the attention, care, and love they deserve!

Hello pet-owners! We are a young couple who loves dogs and have a lot of experience taking care of them. We also have taken care of cats, both in their own homes and our home.The reason we would like to do more dogsitting is because it turns out to go extremely well together with our dog. Even the more shy or dominant ones tend to lift up when being around her. She never causes any problems with other animals since she is small and rather submissive. Therefore we even see it as an advantage to take care of dogs together with our own one. Of course, in some cases this turns out to be impossible, in that case it is also possible to take care of your dog seperately (we're with two). Enough about our dog, let's say something about ourselves.Currently we work mostly from home and we expect that to stay like that the coming future. We have sufficient free time and therefore like to spend as much as possible time outside and go for walks.When inside, we enjoy the company of the animals and they can be guaranteed of fulltime attention during the whole day. We both grew up taking care of animals like cats, rabbits and mainly dogs. Especially dogs always know how to steal our hearts so dogsitting always stayed part of our lives. We have watched over very different kinds of dogs, from big labradors to small maltezers and everything in between. Welcome to my page! I'm Ivonne, and my love for animals began in my childhood. I've had the joy of caring for a variety of furbabies, from bunnies and goats to a pig and dogs. Since the age of five, I've been passionate about rescuing animals, often bringing home injured or stray pets. Fortunately, my animal-loving parents supported me and embraced these new family members. They could share countless stories of my creative explanations for how an animal found its way into our home!

As an adult, I've continued this journey, caring for dogs and bunnies, primarily through rescues and adoptions. My oldest rabbit lived to 12 years, following the passing of his mate from old age. With over 20 years of experience, I've worked with rescues and animals with physical and mental disabilities and special needs. These experiences have introduced me to a wide range of personalities, showcasing the incredible resilience, love, and loyalty that animals possess. Each furbaby is unique and special in their own way.

My Promise to You: As a fellow pawrent, I understand the anxiety of leaving your furbaby with a caregiver. Rest assured, I will treat your furbaby as if they were my own, with respect, kindness, compassion, and plenty of love, cuddles, playtime, and exercise. I will follow your guidelines and their schedule, providing regular updates with pictures, videos, and even video calls if you wish. I offer services for dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds.

About My Place: I live in a spacious apartment without a backyard, but there's a beautiful park right across the street where your pup can run. Additionally, there are several dog parks and hiking trails nearby.

**In My Home:** 
I live alone and currently do not have any pets of my own, allowing me to dedicate all my attention to your furbaby. They are welcome to relax on all furniture and can even sleep with me, provided you’re comfortable with it. My home is a spacious apartment with easy access to a nearby park, perfect for playtime and exercise.

**In Your Home:** 
When caring for your pet in your home, I make sure to follow your guidelines and maintain their regular routine. I provide the same level of love, attention, and care as I would in my own home. Your furbaby will receive plenty of cuddles, playtime, and exercise, ensuring they feel secure and happy in their familiar environment. 

No matter where I care for your pet, my priority is their well-being and happiness, ensuring they feel right at home.

While under my care, your furbaby and I will engage in a variety of fun activities tailored to their needs and preferences. For dogs, we'll enjoy plenty of outdoor time, including walks in the park and play sessions. All furbabies will have ample playtime, ensuring they stay active and entertained. Additionally, your pets will receive lots of love and cuddles, creating a comforting and affectionate environment. Rest assured, your furbabies will be in excellent hands, receiving abundant love and attention while you're away.

Animal Care Experience

(Dogs, cats, kittens, rabbits &amp; birds)

My love for animals began early. Growing up, my neighborhood best friend and I spent our childhood rescuing and caring for animals of all kinds — injured birds we rehabilitated and released, indoor and outdoor rabbits we lovingly raised (including hand-feeding orphaned newborns), and multiple litters of kittens from a local street cat. We found safe homes whenever possible and worked with humane organizations when needed.

As a teen and young adult, I regularly walked neighbors’ dogs (despite not having one of my own) and later house-sat for friends and pet owners, caring for their dogs, cats, and homes on countless occasions.

  

Foster Volunteer Experience

(Ottawa Humane Society – Dogs &amp; Cats)

For the past few years, I’ve volunteered as a foster parent with the Ottawa Humane Society, caring for dogs, puppies, cats, pregnant cats, and kittens for periods ranging from 2 - 8 weeks.

One of my most formative experiences was fostering&nbsp;eight dogs at once&nbsp;— seven energetic four-week-old puppies and their mother. When the mother developed mastitis and required emergency surgery, I managed her post-op care while carefully coordinating supervised bonding sessions with each puppy to protect her recovery. After that experience, caring for one dog feels wonderfully manageable 

I’ve also fostered a pregnant cat and assisted her during the live birth and early care of her five kittens for approx. 8 weeks, alongside several other unique and rewarding foster situations while also administrating medications and specialized care as needed.

  

Why I Do This (OHS &amp; Pawshake)

Volunteering and caring for animals and all living things has always been close to my heart — from animal care to building homes with Habitat for Humanity. After the pause brought on by COVID, I was encouraged to return to animal-focused volunteering. Later, while on a Habitat Global Village build in Brazil, a fellow volunteer introduced me to Pawshake — and it felt like a natural extension of what I already love doing.

This is not a side hustle or career for me — I care for animals&nbsp;because I genuinely enjoy their company, their personalities, and the joy of providing a calm, loving atmosphere.

My Home &amp; Environment

I live in a quiet, peaceful two-floor townhome condo filled with sunlight and greenery — a calm, serene retreat for your animal. I currently have no pets.

Evenings &amp; Weekends:

  
    Fully home and present - except to possibly step out occasionally if req'd (e.g. groceries)
  

Ideally, I like to spend&nbsp;30-60 minutes min. with a dog in particular (after a morning drop-off)&nbsp;to settle in together, set up any items from the pet owner (e.g. dog bed, food set up), review any instructions and observe behaviour before heading to work.

  

Expectations for Dogs

You’re welcome to bring your dog’s bed, blanket, food, written care instructions, emergency contacts, toys, or any comfort items with your scent. 

  

Quality Over Quantity

I choose to only care for&nbsp;one animal at a time&nbsp;to ensure thoughtful, individualized attention and create a deeper bond throughout their stay. So, if you choose to select me again your animal is in a very familiar, loving, and comfortable back-up home. Exceptions are made only for multiple animals from the same household. Your animal can expect a warm welcome, personalized care, and a truly comfortable stay. I am attentive to individual needs - for example, if your pet is unsettled at night, I'll make sure they feel safe and supported, whether that means nearby companionship or adjusting sleeping arrangements for added comfort (e.g.. where we both sleep on a couch in the family room or by my bedside for added close proximity comfort).

Hi I'm Mell! :) I have over 15 years of experience caring for and training dogs and 6 years of experience I've gained with my very own rescue, Jasper! (who came with many of his own issues I was able to train out of him!) I've also been the go-to sitter for friends for many years now. I’ve cared for many shapes and sizes - including rescues and seniors and I've gained experience working with common behavioural issues (e.g. anxiety, leash reactivity, resource guarding) and its something I find very rewarding.I would love to offer my services to you (Walks, drop ins, overnights, housesitting) and your pets as it would be an absolute pleasure to and I am looking for extra income as I have just purchased a home.
