For pet parents, one of the hardest things about going to work each day is wondering what your dog will get up to while you are gone. At Pawshake, we understand that dogs need activity and interaction during the day, so why not book your dog with one of our trusted sitters in District Bellevue for a home day care service? You can drop your dog off at the sitter’s home on the way to work or organise with your local District Bellevue Pawshake sitter to pick up and drop off your dog for you.

Pet day care is a great way to keep your dog mentally and physically active during the day so that you can come home to a happy, relaxed dog. Pawshake’s home day care service is great for young dogs who need constant supervision: puppy daycare allows your pup to maintain a consistent routine, which is important during the toilet training process. It’s also a great option for dogs who need extra care and attention, or those who are extra active.

Our sitters who offer home day care and puppy daycare services are more adaptable than your average big day care centre. Numbers are kept small and some Pawshake sitters will only take in one dog at a time. This means they can work around your timing and any special requirements your dog may have. So, let your four-legged best friend enjoy their day with a fun and loving District Bellevue sitter who will shower them with love and dedicated attention. On top of that, you will also get photos and updates during the day so that you can follow your dog’s day care adventures!

Every day care booking also comes included with The Pawshake Guarantee, which includes veterinary coverage, customer service support 7 days a week and more.

Being a dog sitter is more than just a job—it's a commitment to making dogs feel loved, cared for and truly happy, even when you can't be there. For me, it's not just about my love for dogs, they've always been a constant happy presence in my life. The title "dog mom" feels just a true as "mom" because my two dogs are family and their happiness is my priority. I walk them every day—rain, shine and snow— because I know how important those moments are for their well-being. As a dog sitter, I bring that same dedication and care to every furry friend I work with. It's about giving both the dogs and owners peace of mind, knowing their beloved companion is in the hands of someone who truly understands their needs. From engaging walks to ensuring they're comfortable and content, every moment spent with a dog is an opportunity to build trust and share joy. Seeing their wagging tails and happy faces is what makes it worthwhile. Being a dog sitter is not just about tending to their needs—it's about making them feel special, loved, and appreciated. Every dog deserves kindness, attention, and companionship. Being able to contribute to their happiness is the most fulfilling part of what I do. 🩷

Hello Pawrents :)

Welcome to my page! I'm Ivonne, and my love for animals began in my childhood. I've had the joy of caring for a variety of furbabies, from bunnies and goats to a pig and dogs. Since the age of five, I've been passionate about rescuing animals, often bringing home injured or stray pets. Fortunately, my animal-loving parents supported me and embraced these new family members. They could share countless stories of my creative explanations for how an animal found its way into our home!

As an adult, I've continued this journey, caring for dogs and bunnies, primarily through rescues and adoptions. My oldest rabbit lived to 12 years, following the passing of his mate from old age. With over 20 years of experience, I've worked with rescues and animals with physical and mental disabilities and special needs. These experiences have introduced me to a wide range of personalities, showcasing the incredible resilience, love, and loyalty that animals possess. Each furbaby is unique and special in their own way.

My Promise to You: As a fellow pawrent, I understand the anxiety of leaving your furbaby with a caregiver. Rest assured, I will treat your furbaby as if they were my own, with respect, kindness, compassion, and plenty of love, cuddles, playtime, and exercise. I will follow your guidelines and their schedule, providing regular updates with pictures, videos, and even video calls if you wish. I offer services for dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds.

About My Place: I live in a spacious apartment without a backyard, but there's a beautiful park right across the street where your pup can run. Additionally, there are several dog parks and hiking trails nearby.

Services:
- Walking Services (prices for up to 30 minutes)
- Daily Drop-in Visits (feedings, medicine administration, potty breaks, cuddles, and playtime)
- Boarding (your furbaby stays at my home)
- Housesitting (I stay at your home)

The pictures posted are of some of the wonderful furbabies I've had the pleasure of working with.

My approach to pet care is personalized to ensure each furbaby feels comfortable, safe, and loved, whether they are in my home or yours. Here’s how I care for pets based on the service you choose:

**In My Home:**
I live alone and currently do not have any pets of my own, allowing me to dedicate all my attention to your furbaby. They are welcome to relax on all furniture and can even sleep with me, provided you’re comfortable with it. My home is a spacious apartment with easy access to a nearby park, perfect for playtime and exercise.

**In Your Home:**
When caring for your pet in your home, I make sure to follow your guidelines and maintain their regular routine. I provide the same level of love, attention, and care as I would in my own home. Your furbaby will receive plenty of cuddles, playtime, and exercise, ensuring they feel secure and happy in their familiar environment.

No matter where I care for your pet, my priority is their well-being and happiness, ensuring they feel right at home.

While under my care, your furbaby and I will engage in a variety of fun activities tailored to their needs and preferences. For dogs, we'll enjoy plenty of outdoor time, including walks in the park and play sessions. All furbabies will have ample playtime, ensuring they stay active and entertained. Additionally, your pets will receive lots of love and cuddles, creating a comforting and affectionate environment. Rest assured, your furbabies will be in excellent hands, receiving abundant love and attention while you're away.

Questions for you:
- Does your furbaby have any behavioral issues?
- Does your pet have any dietary restrictions?
- Does your pet experience separation anxiety?
- Is your dog potty trained? Do they frequently have accidents?
- Does your furbaby have any health concerns?
- Has your dog had any fleas in the past two months?
- Is your dog up to date with their vaccinations?
- What activities does your furbaby enjoy? Do they have any favorite toys?
- What is your furbaby’s daily routine, including feeding, walking, and playtime schedules?

I am a caring, patient, and responsible pet sitter with over 10 years of experience caring for both dogs and cats. I also have a dog myself, so I truly understand how it feels to leave your pet with someone new. My goal is to make that experience stress-free for both you and your pet.My home is clean, calm, and pet-friendly, providing a safe and comfortable environment where pets can relax and feel at home. I follow each pet’s routine carefully, including feeding schedules, rest time, and any special instructions.I love going outside to the park and taking dogs for enjoyable walks. Regular walks and outdoor time are important for their physical and mental well-being, and I make sure they get the exercise and attention they need.During boarding or daycare, pets are always supervised. I introduce new pets slowly and carefully. In case of emergencies, I act quickly and contact the owner right away.Your pet will be treated with genuine care and affection.

Hi ! My name is Marina. I just graduated from a bachelor's in communications in Montreal, and I'm currently staying in Ottawa, although I travel to Montreal often.
Since very young, I have always loved animals very dearly.
I have 1 female cat who recently passed away, that my family and I had for about 15 years. We took her in as a pregnant stray, and adopted her and her 5 babies.
I love to petsit, not only because it is something I truly enjoy, but also because I have a good amount of free time and I thought it would be a nice idea to help out pet owners !
For experience, I took care of 2 adult akitas for the past year, walking them as well as occasional petsitting for extended periods of time. I also have recently done a bit of cat petsitting (feeding, playing with them, etc). In the past, I've taken care of my family cat, as well as her 5 kittens on my own, which can be challenging. I have also cared for 2 huskies for a couple of days a few times.
I am constantly around animals in my day to day, when I go back home or through friends, so I feel very comfortable. I am of course always open to learn and personalize the care and routine based on the pet, because I know every animal is very different.
Looking forward to working with you !

Hi I'm Mell! :) I have over 15 years of experience caring for and training dogs and 6 years of experience I've gained with my very own rescue, Jasper! (who came with many of his own issues I was able to train out of him!) I've also been the go-to sitter for friends for many years now. I’ve cared for many shapes and sizes - including rescues and seniors and I've gained experience working with common behavioural issues (e.g. anxiety, leash reactivity, resource guarding) and its something I find very rewarding.I would love to offer my services to you (Walks, drop ins, overnights, housesitting) and your pets as it would be an absolute pleasure to and I am looking for extra income as I have just purchased a home. Its also an added bonus because we are new to town and Jasper needs new friends! (If possible!) Overnights additional info: I can accommodate most individual needs and preferences, Myself and my partner Kurt work from home with flexible schedules to tend to your pets needs at all times. If you have questions about special care feel free to reach out. Stays include several walks a day through the trails of Avalon or nearby parks. I offer lots of individual attention (I only accept one boarder at a time as I also have my dog Jasper here full-time), and full run of our 3 Bedroom Townhome + fenced Backyard. I welcome all ages and energy levels, and require only that boarders are potty trained and can do a meet & greet with myself and Jasper to ensure compatibility.I'm looking forward to making Jasper some new friends and ensuring your mind can be at ease while you are away for business or pleasure! I know how stressful it can be when leaving your furry loved one behind

Animal Care Experience

(Dogs, cats, kittens, rabbits & birds)

My love for animals began early. Growing up, my neighborhood best friend and I spent our childhood rescuing and caring for animals of all kinds — injured birds we rehabilitated and released, indoor and outdoor rabbits we lovingly raised (including hand-feeding orphaned newborns), and multiple litters of kittens from a local street cat. We found safe homes whenever possible, conducted adoption interviews as kiddies with neighbouring families, and worked with humane organizations and pet stores when needed.

As a teen and adult, I walked neighbours' dogs (despite not having one of my own - thanks mom & dad lol) and later house-sat for friends and pet owners, caring for their animals and homes on occasion.

Foster Volunteer Experience

(Ottawa Humane Society – Dogs & Cats)

For the past few years, I’ve volunteered as a foster parent with the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS), caring for dogs, puppies, cats, pregnant cats, and kittens for periods ranging from 2 - 8 weeks.

One of my most formative experiences was fostering eight dogs at once — seven energetic four-week-old puppies and their mother. When the mother developed mastitis and required emergency surgery, I managed her post-op care while carefully coordinating supervised bonding sessions with each puppy multiple times daily to protect her recovery and stitches. After that experience, caring for one dog feels wonderfully manageable

I also fostered a pregnant cat who welcomed me to assist her during the live birth and early care of her five kittens for approx. 8 weeks, alongside several other unique and rewarding foster situations. I have also administrated medications and provided specialized care as needed by following strict instructions from OHS for animals requiring extra attention. I have learned though... that I am not good (yet) with orphan kittens + needles to ensure their fluids - sworry.

Why I Do This (OHS & Pawshake)

Volunteering and caring for animals (and all living things) has always been close to my heart. From animal care to children mentorship to building homes with Habitat for Humanity among other volunteer experiences that has nourished my soul over the years.
After the world paused from COVID, I was encouraged to return to animal-focused volunteering from a friend. Additionally, while on a Habitat Global Village build in Brazil, a fellow volunteer introduced me to Pawshake — and it felt like a natural extension of what I already love doing to incorporate into my life periodically when the timing and fit is right.

This is not a side hustle or career for me — I care for animals because I genuinely enjoy their company, personalities, learning from them, and the joy of providing a calm, loving atmosphere for short term periods. I travel often...hence why I do not have a pet of my own.

Through OHS, I've also taken additional training:
- Shy/Fearful & House Soiling Feline
- Orphan Kittens
- Don't Blame the Cat
- Don't Blame the Dog

My Home & Environment

I live in a peaceful two-floor townhome condo filled with bright south facing sunlight and greenery inside and out — a calm, serene retreat for your animal. There is a spacious, quiet, shared community backyard with a 3x sided fence. I currently have no pets. Additional information:

Close to parks, soccer field, and a forest path

Three-sided fenced flower garden backyard (shared but rarely used) that is well kept with trees and shade. One side is open with no fence for access

Second bedroom with a human bed for the animal and plenty of sun with access to a balcony if desired during warmer months

Dog bed in living room near a gas fireplace

A “pet-friendly” couch prepared just for them

Outdoor activity is balanced with rest, depending on your dog’s needs, desires, and energy level. You simply tell me as a 5am wake-up call is no problem!

What You Can Expect

Only one animal at a time (unless from the same household)

    Personalized, attentive one-on-one care

Dog Boarding: 3-5 +\- walks daily (mix of long & short walks) unless more or less desired

Calm companionship and plenty of affection

I truly enjoy getting to know each animal’s unique personality and creating a relaxed trusting bond.

My Daily Schedule & Time Spent at Home

Mon–Wed & Friday:

Office days (away from home) w/ flexible hours

Home for a 45min. lunch break check-in, walk, and companionship

I am away approx. 9:00-12:00. Home 12:05-12:55. Home by 17:00

Thursday:

WFH most mornings, so the animal is with me until I leave before 1:00pm. Back by 17:00pm

Weekdays:

Short periods (approx. 3-4hrs) where your dog will be alone with potential full house access

Optional gated 2nd bedroom if preferred and pending behaviour (e.g. unexpected chewing upon arrival)

Evenings & Weekends:

Fully home and present - except to possibly step out occasionally if req'd (e.g. groceries)

Ideally, I like to spend 30-60 minutes min. with a dog in particular (after a morning drop-off) to settle in together, set up any items from the pet owner (e.g. dog bed, food set up), review any instructions and observe behaviour before heading to work.

Expectations for Dogs

Dogs must be:

    House-trained

Comfortable being alone for short periods 3-4hrs

    Non-destructive (unless otherwise discussed)

You’re welcome to bring your dog’s bed, blanket, food, written care instructions, emergency contacts, toys, or any comfort items with your scent.

Quality Over Quantity

I choose to only care for one animal at a time to ensure thoughtful, individualized attention and create a deeper bond throughout their stay. So, if you choose to select me again your animal is in a very familiar, loving, and comfortable back-up home. Exceptions are made only for multiple animals from the same household. Your animal can expect a warm welcome, personalized care, and a truly comfortable stay.
I am attentive to individual needs. For example, if your pet is unsettled at night, as I've experienced in the past, I'll make sure they feel safe and supported, whether that means nearby companionship or adjusting sleeping arrangements for added comfort (e.g.. where we both sleep on a couch in the family room or by my bedside for added close proximity comfort).

Hello pet-owners! We are a young couple who loves dogs and have a lot of experience taking care of them. We also have taken care of cats, both in their own homes and our home. The reason we would like to do more dogsitting is because it turns out to go extremely well together with our dog. Even the more shy or dominant ones tend to lift up when being around her. She never causes any problems with other animals since she is small and rather submissive. Therefore we even see it as an advantage to take care of dogs together with our own one. Of course, in some cases this turns out to be impossible, in that case it is also possible to take care of your dog seperately (we're with two). Enough about our dog, let's say something about ourselves.Currently we work mostly from home and we expect that to stay like that the coming future. We have sufficient free time and therefore like to spend as much as possible time outside and go for walks. When inside, we enjoy the company of the animals and they can be guaranteed of fulltime attention during the whole day. We both grew up taking care of animals like cats, rabbits and mainly dogs. Especially dogs always know how to steal our hearts so dogsitting always stayed part of our lives. We have watched over very different kinds of dogs, from big labradors to small maltezers and everything in between. We like to take care of the big ones that want to run over the beach and explore the forest everyday but also won't get bored of the old ladies that prefer a small block around the corner.I think I made our love for animals quite clear, but feel free to reach out for any more questions, we're happy to answer!

As a devoted animal lover, I have always cherished the joy and companionship that pets bring into our lives. I am excited to offer my pet-sitting services, drawing on my rich experience and deep affection for animals.I am the proud owner of two beautiful Siamese cats, both four years old, who bring endless joy and energy to my home. Before them, I was blessed to have a Shih Tzu who was a cherished member of my family for 13 wonderful years. I understand that each pet has its own unique personality and needs, and I am committed to offering personalized care tailored to your pet's specific requirements. Whether it's feeding, playing, administering medication, or simply providing company, I ensure that every pet feels loved and cared for in their owner's absence. In addition to my hands-on experience, I bring a warm, reliable, and trustworthy presence to pet sitting. I know how stressful it can be to leave your furry friends behind, and I strive to offer peace of mind by treating them with the same care and affection that I give to my own pets.
