Top cities for house sitting in Canada

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your West Vancouver home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like West Vancouver.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your West Vancouver home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Hi my name is Danielle, I am a big pet lover! I have grown up in a household with dogs and I had the pleasure of owning a horse as well. Having grown up with animals I have learned to be responsible, reliable and caring.
I have been a pet sitter for several years, mostly looking after dogs and horses. While travelling through Australia, I regularly dog-sat as a way to explore new cities. This gave me the opportunity to care for a wide range of dogs, each with their own personalities, routines, and needs.
I am confident with feeding schedules, daily walks, playtime, and creating a calm, safe environment so your pet feels comfortable while you’re away.
I understand how important it is to maintain consistency, and I always follow instructions closely to ensure your dog’s routine stays the same.
I’m now new to Vancouver and excited to continue pet sitting as a way to get to know the city.
I will treat your home and your pet with respect, care, and genuine attention.

What sets me apart as a pet sitter is my unwavering reliability and deep love for animals I treat every pet as if they were my own, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and cared for at all times. Pet parents can trust me to be dependable, attentive, and to go above and beyond to provide the best care possible 🤍
I am also photo addictive, so pet parents will get as many pictures as never before
Back to my home country I had quite a few dogs and cats during my childhood. And when I was growing up I was training them from the puppy age and I looked after them when they got older with some medical problems. So I can say that I have a lot experience for training puppies and help them develop good behavior and social skills from an early age. For senior pets, I offer attentive and compassionate care, understanding their specific needs and ensuring their comfort and well-being.
My genuine love for all kinds of pets, combined with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to providing personalized care, ensures that every pet I look after is happy, healthy, and well-cared for.
Unfortunately, I cannot have my own pet at the moment, but I have already pet sitted dogs and cats of my friends and I definitely enjoyed that experience.
I want to spread the love and help pet parents have peace of mind knowing their furry family members are in good hands while they are away

Hi there! I am an Irish girl living in Vancouver and seriously missing my dogs and cats back home. I’ve grown up in a house full of furry chaos, with cats curled up on the couch and dogs always ready for a walk. Now that I’m far from home, I’m hoping to share that love with your pet! Whether you’re heading away for the weekend or just need a helping hand, I’m available to pet sit in your home and take your fur baby out for fun walks and playtime. I absolutely love all breeds and sizes, from tiny lap dogs to big gentle giants, and from chill cats to sassy kittens. Your pet will get all the cuddles, attention, treats and care they deserve—just like I’d give my own. I would be honoured to fill that pet-shaped void by caring for yours!
I have experience with petsitting in Ireland and Vancouver but unfortunately cannot petsit in my current house.
If this arrangement suits you, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
Thank you!️

Animals, especially dogs, have always played a big role in my life, and becoming a pet sitter is a natural extension of my love for caring for them. Unfortunately due to current life, I'm not able to house a dog, so I'm hoping to get puppy vibes through walking and sitting. Whether it’s going for long walks, keeping a routine, or just offering company and comfort while you're away, I find real joy in ensuring dogs feel safe, happy, and loved in my care.
I have experience caring for dogs of various breeds, ages, and temperaments. I understand that each dog has its own personality and needs, and I take the time to learn what makes them comfortable. Friends and family have trusted me to care for their dogs while they’re away, and I’m proud of the trust I’ve earned for being reliable, attentive, and patient.
My goal is always to provide a calm, caring environment where your dog feels at home. I look forward to meeting your furry family member and giving them the care they deserve!

Hello pet parents!
I know how hard it can be to trust someone new with your pet, I hesitate to leave my own dog in the care of others for this very reason. This said, I am always looking to expand my animal-loving community and want to be someone you can count on to take the best care of your fur baby. As a dog owner myself, I understand the value in a compassionate, reliable and responsible sitter.
I'm a mommy! ... to a handsome boxer named Hudson (added extra photos of him to my profile because he deserves the spotlight and I love him so much). I have completely fallen in love with being a dog mom and make sure to smile at every dog on the street.
I'm very comfortable with energy, nervousness and reactivity. I truly believe every dog is a good dog and there's probably nothing that would turn me away from a new furry friend. I understand that all dogs have different behaviours and needs, and it is my pledge to you that I will always prioritize their boundaries, safety and comfort.
I also have years of experience caring for cats through fostering, rescue work, and long-term cat sitting. I’m comfortable with all kinds of feline needs—whether your cat is shy, playful, reactive, needs medication, or simply prefers quiet companionship.
In addition to cats and dogs, I’m happy to care for small animals too! I’ve had bunnies, hamsters, geckos, and even a snake, so I’m familiar with different enclosures, diets, and handling needs. No matter the species, I’ll always ensure your pet feels safe, loved, and well cared for.
OFFERING SERVICES IN DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER - bookings outside of the downtown core will require an added travel expense. Thank you for understanding!

Hey there, I'm Joi and I've been an animal lover my whole life! I've had some wonderful times with fish, a parrot, a hamster and my favorite, a dog. For 14 years, I've been lucky enough to share my home with an amazing toy poodle back in South Korea. Together, we've navigated everything from puppyhood to those golden senior years.
To me, pet sitting isn't just a job – it's something I truly LOVE. I'm all about making sure every pet I look after feels safe, loved, and has a whole lot of fun. Can't wait to meet your special buddy!
I promise to treat your buddy as special and give them care that's just for them. I promise to keep you in the loop with regular updates, sharing photos and videos of your buddy's fun times with me. I promise to ensure your buddy's safety and comfort at all times, treating them like my own family member. I promise to find out what makes your buddy happiest and ensure they get to enjoy those things.
Being an interior designer working from home, I have a flexible schedule. Please let me know if you need any more details.
This lets me fit in pet care easily every day, from walks in the morning to playtime and meal or medicine times. I enjoy spending time with pets and can handle extras like vet visits. I really love caring for pets as part of my day!
Safety, comfort, and happiness of the pets come first. I respect both the pet and their space.
I stick to your pet's normal routine to keep things familiar for them, including feeding, exercise, and rest times. I also keep your space clean.

We live in a spacious 2 bedroom condo with a big patio in the Brentwood area. I work as a financial analyst in a tech company, and currently work from home 100% of the time. I will ensure your dogs have all the attention they deserve. My mum is retired and staying with me at the moment, she loves dogs very much too and have one cute boy poodle. We will ensure our company and best attention for your dogs.
I grew up having dogs at home and genuinely love them. The breeds I had growing up include German Shepherd, poodle, border collie and small mixed breed.
Currently at home we have a 3 year old well trained poodle Japanese Spitz mixed boy, Tyson. Tyson is friendly like an angel once you get to know him, although he can get a little defensive at the beginning. He is neutered and fully vaccinated.
Last but not least, we look forward to meeting you and your dogs, taking care of them and enjoying our time together! :) We are doing dog walking daycare and overnight, so let us know!

As a passionate animal lover, the most important aspect of sharing experiences with non-human animals is to do it without discrimination. The most wonderful thing I've learned from my experiences, is the forgiveness that traumatized nonhuman animals have towards humans through my experience at the cat sanctuary. I also strongly believe there are no "bad" animals, beings can choose to learn and grow no matter what their past experiences. Through my experiences I have learned and grown, seeing the beauty in every interaction I have with nonhuman animals. As a pet sitter, I want to learn and grow with you and your companions, providing unbiased and inclusive care for you and them!My experience includesVolunteering at RAPS cat sanctuary in Richmond since 2022Overnight care of my siblings 3 cats for 1 week in December 2022Daily drop in care of 3 rats for 3 days this July between the 7-9thFor references please request directly as I need to ask permission to give out personal numbers. My services include a wide range of animal care from birds, rodents, cat, dogs and more. I have experience with having dogs, cats, sugar gliders, rabbits, and birds as companions of my own. I also work with many different special requirements and needs such as oral medications, special diets etc. I can stay overnight as well as visit once or twice a day, and go on walks.

French will follow
Hi, I'm Victor! I'm a young professional working in Tech in Vancouver. Originally from France, I moved to Canada in 2017.
In France, I grew up on a farm surrounded by dogs. I spent most of my afternoons after school taking care of them. That included feeding them, grooming them, taking them to the Vet when needed, walking them, and of course playing with them.
Ever since I moved to Canada, I miss my dogs, therefore being a dog sitter came as an obvious choice when looking for hobbies.
I am really not doing this for money, but just to spend time with dogs. Here is what I do and when I'm available:

I can walk your dog every day (except on weekends) for 2 hours after 2:30 PM. I live in Kitsilano, so I would mostly walk your dog around Kits Beach and Jericho Beach. I am runner, so I could also go for a run with dog, if you want them to exercise.
I can do home visits for a couple for 3 hours after 2:30 PM, I can do other things while coming for home visits (water your plants or get your mail). I can telework everyday, so if you are comfortable with me working around your dog, I can spend the day at your house.

Feel free to reach out if you need more information, or have any question!
Looking forward to meeting you and your dog!

Bonjour!

Victor

Hi, I’m Jamie. I’m a North Shore living, sunshine loving, animal fanatic! I don’t own a pet right now so I need to borrow yours to give me my pet fix for the time being! Warning: I’ll spoil them.
I’ve grown up with animals and currently have family pets who I adore. My future goal is to live on acreage and adopt all the rescue animals! I’m comfortable with all breeds and I have a pretty flexible schedule. If there’s anything else you want to know, feel free to ask! Looking forward to meeting your furry, 4 legged friend(s). Talk to you soon!
I charge $65 per night for overnight stays. I am also offering 2 Hour forest or beach adventures for $45 + $10 for each additional pet. I charge $25 per 30 min walk, and 40 for an hour. Seving North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Lions Bay ONLY!
Please dont hesitate to contact me and ask for my reviews which speak for themselves. I have always been great with animals and they seem to love me right back. I'll make sure they feel as comfortable as possible while you're away, as I know separation anxiety can be tough for doggo AND owner.
Looking forward to meeting you and your furry friend(s)!!!!
Sincerely,
Jamie
