Top cities for house sitting in Canada

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Oakville home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Oakville.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Oakville home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Hi! I’m a graduate of the Animal Care program at Sheridan College, where I was trained in pet first aid & CPR, along with safe handling, restraint, and basic training techniques for both dogs and cats Animals have always been a huge part of my life—I grew up with both cats and dogs and have hands-on experience working in doggy daycares and at Pet Valu, so I’m confident with pets of all personalities and energy levels My goal is to provide care that goes beyond the basics. Each visit includes both physical and mental stimulation—whether that’s walks, enrichment activities, basic training (sit, stay, come), puzzles, snuffle mats, or even mini obstacle courses to keep your fur-baby happy, engaged, and thriving I specialize in puppies, high-energy dogs, and pets who need a little extra patience, structure, and guidance—but I have experience with animals of all ages, including seniors and those with special needs.Visits are typically 30–60 minutes, depending on your booking and your pet’s needs. I keep my schedule intentionally structured so every pet gets the time, attention, and quality care they deserve. In multi-pet households, I make sure each pet’s individual needs are met while keeping everything calm, safe, and stress-free.Your pet’s safety is always my top priority. With my training in pet first aid & CPR, I’m prepared to respond quickly in emergencies and will always keep you informed right away if anything arises. You’ll always feel connected while you’re away—I provide updates, photos, and visit summaries so you can see exactly how your fur-baby is doing I offer a flexible schedule and will always do my best to accommodate your routine. Visits are tailored to your pet’s personality, energy level, and specific needs to ensure they feel comfortable and cared for. Please let me know about any allergies, behaviours, or special requirements when booking so I can give your pet the best care possible ‍🦺

Your pets deserve more than just care—they deserve love, comfort, attention, and a true sense of family. I’ve been an animal lover my entire life and have grown up caring for many different pets with patience, responsibility, and devotion.
At home, I’ve personally cared for two German Shepherds, a Shih Tzu, parrots, budgie birds, and fish. This hands‑on experience has helped me understand the very different needs of large and small animals, energetic and calm personalities, and species that require specialized routines. Whether it’s an active dog that needs structured exercise or a gentle bird that thrives with calm companionship, I adapt my care to suit each pet’s unique temperament.
Daily care with me includes quality time throughout the day—not quick check‑ins.Dogs receive structured walks of 30–60 minutes, depending on their energy level, along with playtime, mental stimulation, enrichment activities, and proper rest. All pets follow their usual feeding schedules, routines, and house rules exactly as requested to help them feel comfortable and secure.
Availability:
Weekdays: Available after 5:00 PM, with evening and overnight care options
Weekends: Available all day and night, including boarding, daycare, and overnight stays
This schedule allows me to dedicate focused, uninterrupted time to your pets. Pets are rarely left alone, and if I do need to step out briefly, it’s only for short periods and never without ensuring your pet is safe, comfortable, and settled.
I’m highly attentive to signs of stress, anxiety, or discomfort and adjust care accordingly—whether that means extra play for energetic pets, calm one‑on‑one time for shy animals, or reassurance for pets that miss home. Emotional well‑being is always a top priority.
For boarding and daycare, pets stay in a clean, calm, pet‑friendly home environment with plenty of space to rest, play, and feel secure. I carefully manage supervision and can separate pets as needed based on size, personality, or comfort level. Regular updates can also be provided so you feel connected while your pet is in my care.
In case of any emergency, I remain calm, responsible, and communicative. I follow your instructions closely, contact you immediately, and can reach a nearby vet if required. Your pet’s safety and health always come first.
I treat every pet as if they were my own—ensuring they feel safe, happy, and genuinely loved at all times. From walks and feeding to companionship and routine care, your pet will receive the same respect and affection I give my own animals.
When your pet is with me, you can have complete peace of mind knowing they’re in experienced, attentive, and loving hands. ️

Dog walking, pet sitting, drop insHi! I’m a passionate dog lover based in Mississauga with real hands-on experience caring for my own Shih Tzu, Romeo. I’ve raised him since he was a pup, and through that journey, I’ve developed a deep understanding of dog behavior, needs, and communication. I’ve personally trained Romeo in basic obedience and leash manners, and we enjoy daily walks together, rain or shine.Spending time with dogs is something I genuinely enjoy, and I understand how important it is for pet owners to have someone trustworthy and caring to look after their furry friends. I’m responsible, attentive, and treat every dog with patience, kindness, and respect—just like I do with my own.Whether it’s a quick walk or spending some time keeping your dog company, I’ll ensure your pup feels comfortable, safe, and loved. You can count on me to be reliable and give your dog the attention they deserve.

As a lifelong dog lover, I’ve been fortunate to share my life with many wonderful dogs over the years, each leaving a special paw print on my heart.

Our family—my husband, our 13-year-old daughter, our 10-year-old son, and our friendly medium-sized Cockapoo, Candy—lives in a welcoming neighbourhood in Mississauga where pets are truly part of the family. We have a cozy semi-detached home with a fully fenced backyard, giving our furry guests a safe place to enjoy fresh air, play, and explore throughout the day.

Candy is much more than a pet—she’s a beloved member of our family. Her gentle and friendly nature helps visiting dogs feel comfortable and at home.

My journey into pet sitting began when a close friend needed someone to care for their dog during an unexpected emergency. They trusted us because they knew how much we love dogs, and we were happy to help. Seeing how quickly their dog settled into our home and how rewarding the experience was inspired me to become a pet sitter.

Since I work from home, I’m available throughout the day to provide companionship, supervision, potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of love and attention. At the moment, I welcome mini and small-breed dogs into our home.

As a vegetarian, I’m happy to serve kibble, treats, vegetables, and your dog’s regular prepared meals. However, I do not handle raw meat, provide grooming services, or administer medications as part of my pet-sitting services.

If you’re looking for a safe, loving, and home-like environment while you’re away, we’d be delighted to welcome your furry family member into ours. They’ll enjoy plenty of affection, playtime, and companionship, and they’ll be treated with the same love and care that we give Candy.

We look forward to meeting you and your four-legged companion and making sure they have a happy, comfortable, and tail-wagging stay until you’re reunited.
