Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Metchosin home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Metchosin.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Metchosin home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Hello! My name is Maureen and I have always had a very deep love and respect for all animals. I grew up with several dogs as pets, to which I took an active role in caring for. I now have 2 cats of my own who mean the absolute world to me.
My experience includes caring for multi-pet households, building a trusted bond with timid animals, and administering some medications (e.g. pills, liquid medications, and insulin injections). I have experience caring for very active animals who require frequent stimulation, as well as senior animals who are less active.
I am happy to provide frequent photos and updates during my time spent with your pets as I understand the anxieties that may come from being separated from your fur babies. I also take pride in my ability to acquaint myself with various animals while maintaining respect towards their boundaries and comfort zones.

I look forward to connecting with you and your pets!

For the past ten years, I’ve provided loving, reliable care for dogs of many sizes and temperaments throughout Victoria and the southern Gulf Islands. I’m attentive, dependable, and mindful of each pet’s routines and individual characters. I am flexible and can travel throughout BC and Alberta if the stay is long enough.
My goal is to help your pet feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for while you’re away. I take the time to learn their preferences—whether that’s extra snuggles, long walks, or quiet companionship—and I maintain their routines. I am familiar with administering oral and topical medication, and with following owners' instructions regarding food intake and preferences. I provide updates so you can enjoy your time away, knowing your pet is happy and in good hands. My approach is patient, respectful, and tailored to each pet’s personality, ensuring that they feel at home—even when you’re not.
I work virtually and set my own, part-time hours, so am always available to give your pet the care and attention they need throughout the day.
I will ensure your pet is safe, comfortable, and loved while you are away.

Hi! My name is Nicolas, I’m 29 years old and originally from France. I recently moved to Calgary, and even though I’m far from home, one thing that has always stayed constant in my life is my love for animals. I grew up surrounded by them at my parents’ home and also on my grandparents’ farm, so caring for dogs and cats has always felt natural to me. They’ve been part of my daily life since I was a kid, and I truly enjoy their company.

Now that I’m living in Calgary, I really miss having animals around, which is why I would love to spend time walking and caring for yours. I know how important regular walks and outdoor time are for dogs, not only for their physical health but also for their happiness and well-being. Whether it’s a calm stroll or a more active outing, I’ll make sure the walk matches your dog’s energy and personality.

I live with my girlfriend, and together we have plenty of time and love to give to animals. We both enjoy spending time outdoors and would be delighted to bring your pets along with us for walks in safe and enjoyable places. Your pet’s comfort, safety, and happiness will always be my top priority.

I’d be happy to connect with you, learn more about your dog, and understand their routine and preferences. Every animal is unique, and I want to make sure each walk feels right for them

I’ve always had a deep love for animals, and becoming a pet sitter feels like a natural extension of that passion. Spending time with pets brings me genuine joy, and I understand how important it is for owners to feel confident that their companions are safe, happy, and well cared for while they’re away. My motivation comes from wanting to provide that peace of mind, while also giving pets the attention, affection, and routine they need.

I have previous experience caring for a variety of pets, especially dogs and cats. I’ve helped friends, neighbors, and local families with daily walks, feeding, playtime, and overnight care. Through this, I’ve learned how to read animal behavior, adapt to different personalities, and ensure each pet feels comfortable and secure in my care.

Safety and health are very important to me, which is why I only accept vaccinated pets into my home. This helps create a safe environment for all animals I care for. I’m reliable, patient, and attentive, and I treat every pet as if they were my own.
