Top cities for house sitting in Canada

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Goldhawk home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Goldhawk.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Goldhawk home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

About Me
Hi, I’m Selina—a lifelong animal lover and experienced pet caretaker! As a proud mom to two adorable cats and a cheeky rabbit, I know firsthand just how special our furry (or fluffy!) family members are.

For several years, I’ve been helping pet parents feel at ease while they’re away. My services include pet sitting, dog walking, and administering medication to both dogs and cats. I’ve worked with animals of all shapes, sizes, and ages—from playful puppies and kittens to wise senior pets requiring extra care and attention. I’m comfortable with a variety of breeds, from pint-sized Pomeranians to majestic Great Danes, and everything in between.

While I can’t host pets in my home, I’m happy to offer home visits and overnight stays to ensure your pets feel safe and loved in their own space. I pride myself on being reliable, responsible, and attuned to the unique needs of every animal I care for. Whether it’s a walk, cuddle, or some specialized care, I’m here to provide all the love and attention your pet deserves!

I can’t wait to meet you and your fur family! Let’s make sure they’re happy, healthy, and well cared for while you’re away.

I have owned cats all my life and have been cat sitting for the last 30 years. I am reliable, honest, and adore all cats, specializing in senior cats. I can administer all medications and have much experience doing so. I have excellent references which I would be happy to provide.I currently have three beautiful cats who I absolutely love and adore. You will be updated with photos and messages while away, as per youir preferences. The security of your home and pets is always my top priority.I am semi-retired and therefore have wide daily availability . I am always happy to work my schedule around your preferences for visitations, especially when medications are required.I immeidately check for animals as soon as I arrive. Each visit is approximately 45 minutes for food, litter change, and play time. I am always happy to check your mail, water your plants, etc as you need. I check your home to ensure it's secure when I leave and also give your cats lots of hugs, attention, and love before I leave.

Hello! I'm Esther!!! I’ve always had a passion for animals and know how important it is for them to feel safe, happy, and cared for. My motivation is to provide reliable, loving care and peace of mind for pet owners while ensuring every pet gets the attention, exercise, and affection they deserve. I had my first dog when I turned 4, I grew up around animals. Now that I'm away from home, I miss my little friend, but I have someone taking care of him. While I study here in Toronto, I would love to help out other pet owners. Yes I do want to earn some money to help my family pay for my studie, but this isn’t just a service for me, it’s about building trust, forming connections, and making every walk, visit, or playtime something that keeps tails wagging and hearts happy. After all, thats what I would want for my pets. Thank you! :)

Hi! I’m Devanshi, a 23-year-old student at Humber Polytechnic with a deep love for animals and a natural sense of responsibility. Growing up in a big family, I was always surrounded by pets—dogs, cats, and even the occasional rabbit! I’ve always been the one trusted to feed, walk, bathe, and cuddle them, which sparked my passion for pet care.

I’m calm, patient, and deeply empathetic, which helps me bond with animals quickly. Whether your furry friend needs a fun walk, some energetic playtime, or just a cozy companion to relax with while you’re away, I’ll be there to make them feel safe, happy, and loved.

As a student, I bring flexible hours, dependable routines, and a fresh, energetic approach to your pet’s day. I treat every pet like family and understand how important trust is when it comes to your beloved companion.

Let’s connect—I’d love to meet you and your pet!

Hiii, I'm pargol, I'm 18 years old and I would love to be your pets new friend.
I love pets so much and they are one of my family, I love spending time with them and take care of them.
In my neighborhoods everyone are pet friendly and so many people have pets.
I could spend 1 hour in your home when you decide that I came to visit your pet or more if you want and how hours do you want when you are in trip, when you are in trip I could be able to water plants.
We could talk about how much time do you want me to walk your dog outside and where.
I'm full available right now.
When I was 14 I often looked after my aunt’s German Shepherd—taking him out for potty breaks and feeding her.
I also cared for my sister’s cat for 2 years while she was at work: feeding, cleaning the litter, playing, and even trimming its nails and I was with her 12 hours daily.
I take care of so many dogs and cats for 1 year cause I like spending time with them.
And I can't take cats and dogs to my place cause I'm living with my sisters cat but I will come to your place for take care of them and going out with them and anything else for them I would love to do.

I've taken care of dogs of every kind most of my life, and I love all animals. I will be able to walk, feed, play with, bathe, your pets and even administer medication(s) if required. I will treat your pup(s) friend like a family member as if they were my own. There are lovely parks in the area and I also have a car to take them to off leash parks in the area. Over the years I have I also volunteered with various rescue organizations and I have taken care of many dogs for both family and friends.
I have an open home, and accept dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds and ages, and don't have a dog in my home at present, (which is ideal for dogs that may require solo care). There are lots of parks in the area and paths we can walk through together, and lots of other pups in the area to play with, (if your pup is good with other dogs).
Pups are allowed on my furniture and I encourage it. I do however, go by your pup's program, schedule and what you wish. They will be walked every 3-4 hours and also they will be fed based on their current schedule. As I am alone in my apartment, I am able to devote all my time on your pup. The longest I would ever be out of my home is 2 hours however, because I am primarily home, that won't be very frequently.
I have a one bedroom apartment on the 2nd floor. I do not have any plants only artificial which are out of reach. I have a very dog friendly apartment. The building is very dog friendly. I also have an elevator in case your pup doesn't like stairs.
I have a balcony which has artificial grass and also I have places for your pup to sit and enjoy a little sunbathing. I will never leave your pup unattended on the balcony.
Before I accept any dog, I like to arrange a meet-and-greet, so make sure we all get along, and so if you think I might be a great fit, please contact me, and let's have a chat!

For my experience, I’ve taken care of friends’ and families’ pets since I was 12, always an animal lover and had been a volunteer during University, during that time I’ve taken care of 20+ pets, big and small ones.
Having 4 pet buddies and one of them was rescued 6 years ago, saved him from starving and become a healthy, clean and active love one.
I am responsible and caring. I take care of your pet with respect, offering affection and attention to your pet. I treat every pet I care for as if they were my own and will do everything I can to make sure they feel safe and loved while you’re away!
I will send lots of photos or videos for update while your pet is staying with us, hairbrushing is provided if needed. High energy dogs are welcome and play time will be provided, playing fetch and walks when ever needed.

Hi there! I'm Gabriel the Pet Whisperer.
I've been taking care of pets for their owners/parents, and training them since I was a child, but am new to this website.
I often travel, and am now a digital nomad, so I can't responsibly have pets of my own. I'm making up for it by being of service to you and your pets.
I have a world class (human) mental health and communication background, and have taught at a university level. I understand animal communication, and have a knack for building trust and bonding with animals.
Recently, a vicious pitbull - kidnapped as a puppy and forced to fight in underground arenas, who hates men especially, and can't leave the house without trying to murder anything that moves - stepped gingerly up onto my lap and kissed my face. This is a day in the life for me.
When I'm in the city I have been helping my fellow traveling friends to house sit, and have been walking and doing basic training with puppies since elementary school with treats, eye contact, and modified clicker(-free) training and behavioural conditioning.
I do not use punishment as a discipline tactic.
I can brush and clip nails, manage special diets, and deliver medicine if necessary. If they are on a schedule, please have it in writing, and sent by email. I will take photos to show completion of time-sensitive activities/routines, and stay in touch about any changes or challenges.
If my availability shows as open, it means I'm in town, and I can stay for just about any length of time. You may have to check in with me for bookings over a month.
Your home is sacred and I will treat it as such:
Beyond personal hygiene and cleanliness, you can expect basic upkeep and homemaking (my mother taught me well), and if your pet takes homemade meals I am, in fact, a chef fantastique.
If you have a garden - either outdoor or indoor you can count on my green thumb and passion for plants to keep your blooming bébés alive and thriving.
You want to feel secure when leaving your pet in the care of someone, and I can offer you that security and peace of mind if my availability is open.
Also, if they don't bring in the newspaper, I will!
I will regularly update you on the status of your home and pet. If you receive mail or visitors you can count at least a daily update. Or, if you prefer to be left alone or more frequently updated, that can be arranged too.
I'm a digital nomad so my schedule is flexible.
I am fit, and can take your pooch for runs, I can and do play, occasionally for hours, and definitely multiple times a day. I don't have a driver's license, so you may want to keep that in mind if you have appointments more than a 1hr walk away, or if your appointment isn't TTC accessible.
WiFi is non negotiable, and the password must be photographed and sent to me before you leave for your trip because I work from home, and any details regarding your internet service provider should be available, in case the internet goes down for more than a couple days, or at least accessible to you so you can send me the details. I can also supervise home care/construction, and/or let workers in and out, document their work and attendance, but I need to know if there will be noise to prepare my workday.
Any expenses such as food, medicine, grooming, or appointments must be paid for/ purchased in advance, or funds must be available for me to purchase. Receipts will be collected, and any additional fees paid out of pocket will be documented and must be reimbursed. We love good karma! All bookings are done through the site, and I don't take tips.
I always keep at least a few days' buffer after our booking in case your flight or gets cancelled or your travel plans change for whatever reason and you need me to stay longer. Standard rates apply, but I will be amenable to sudden changes in plans unless otherwise noted. I prefer to have a local emergency contact in case I can't get a hold of you, as well as the contact of your vet, and any home or pet service providers you anticipate might be involved in you or your pet's life while you are gone - all in writing and sent by email.
Check my posted schedule, and please reach out to me if you have any questions.
I look forward to loving your pet in your stead.
Warmly,
Gabriel

My journey with them has not only deepened my understanding of the intrinsic needs of pets but has also reinforced the love and care they truly deserve. In addition to my own feline companions, I've had the privilege of hosting various dogs, with some even enjoying long-term stays, allowing me to gain diverse experience in canine care.
