Hi, my name is Valsi Almeida. I recently graduated in Veterinary Medicine in Brazil, and I am currently enrolled in the Veterinary Assistant Office program at Bow Valley College to improve my English skills and gain more experience. I have a deep passion for animals and strive to provide the best possible care for them. I have 20 years of non-professional experience as a pet owner and, professionally, 1 year of experience in home care for various types of pets, as well as 3 years of internships in veterinary clinics, I come with letters of recommendation from the places I've worked. As a pet sitter, I offer personalized services to meet the specific needs of your furry friend. This includes feeding, walks, playtime, and, of course, lots of love and attention. I am available to care for dogs, cats, and other pets, providing them with a familiar environment while you are away. My motivation to be a pet sitter goes beyond my professional training. My family and I have always had cats. The cat I grew up with was more of a sibling than a pet, and my current cats are my children. I've had many a cat friend (and occasionally got along with them better than with their humans!), and in social situations, I dedicate as long to my friends' pets as I do to my friends themselves. I've trained my cats to do tricks, walk on a leash, and I brush their teeth daily.

Please make sure to let me know ahead of time if your cats have any preference, special needs, or particular behaviours that I should be aware of; I should be able to accommodate most of these. For instance, I can mix different types of food, adding some water to their food, heating it when it comes out of the fridge, adding supplements/medicine, etc. In some cases, I may also be able to trim claws, clean ears, and the like, if your cat is particularly friendly, too! I have experience administering medicine (pills, liquid medicine injected orally, inhaler, etc.).

When you book any of my services, here’s what you can generally expect:

  At least one photo update per visit sent through the app
  Adherence to the owner's instructions
  Ongoing communication with the owner regarding any changes with the pet
  Feeding the pet as required

30-Minute Dog Walking:

  Enjoy walking and spending quality time with your pet (weather permitting)
  Cleaning up after your pet
  Leash and poop bags should be provided by the owners

One-Time Home Visit:

  
    Single visit to the owner's home to feed, refill water, and play with your pet, while following the owner’s specific guidelines
    The pet and its area will be kept clean, including cleaning up any messes
    Taking your pet outside for potty and pee breaks
  

House Sitting:

  I will stay overnight at the owner's home to care for their pet
  I will ensure that both evening and morning routines are followed according to the owner's guidance
  Light housekeeping tasks, such as watering plants, putting out garbage bins on collection day, and cleaning up to maintain the original condition upon my arrival
  The pet and its area will be kept hygienic, including cleaning up any messes
  Taking your pet outside for potty and pee breaks

I have been dog sitting for about 2 years and I love it! I love animals, taking care of them, going for adventures and soaking up as much cuddle time as I can get. If you book with me you can be sure that your dog will be getting a lot of exercise, tons of playtime, attention and will be in perfectly safe hands. 
My services are only for overnight dog sitting. However once a client becomes regular I am open to other services as well. We will go for long walks, play, and sleep. I have experience training and grooming, and I absolutely love brushing dogs. 
Dogs and other animals fill up a big part of my life, since I am a student I cannot afford having any animals myself, and savour every moment I can get with them. I can promise you I will treat your animal(s) as my own, and I will make it my number one priority that they are living the best life they can when you are away. Living in Calgary for work is a great adventure, but coming home to a quiet house is what I find the hardest. I truly miss the energy, the personality, and the bond you only get with a dog.
Having raised three Setters from pups to seniors, I’m very comfortable with the 'real' side of dog care. I know how to handle high-energy breeds, dogs who follow their nose, or those who just need a patient friend. I am also a runner and would be more than happy to go for a run with your dog if they need to burn off extra energy!&nbsp;
My Approach &amp; Reliability:I take a very calm and observant approach, especially with shy or anxious dogs; I believe in letting them come to me at their own pace to build real trust. Having managed senior dogs, I am experienced in administering oral medications and strictly following medical or dietary routines. House-Sitting &amp; Extra Care: My current apartment is a bit too small to host dogs comfortably, but I am more than happy to do house-sitting at your place! I've been loving animals since I can remember. Growing up, I was the go-to around the neighborhood for friends and loved ones who needed their pets looked after, and that's only continued into my adulthood. I have taken care of the furry friends of friends and strangers alike (cats, dogs, fish, salamanders), and my longest live-in sitting job was for a week and a half (for two high-energy schnauzer-doodle mixes).
I am a student at MRU, and the vast majority of my day is open for house visits or walks. I am available in the mornings, afternoons, evenings - essentially just whenever you need someone to pop in. I'm also available for overnight care on nights that I am not working at my library job. My husband takes care of the house and our cats whenever I'm watching pets overnight, so all is taken care of on that front.
I currently have two cats of my own - Seth and Astrid - and they are the lights of my life. I've also owned Guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, and geckos, so I'm well versed in the care of small animals. I have experience with disabled animals (one of my cats is deaf, so I understand alternative methods of communication with animals), and experience with behavioural issues or difficult personalities (my other cat has extreme anxiety around people, so we have had to adapt our lives in order to help her be comfortable.) I also have experience walking reactive dogs, though I would prefer not to unless I understand their personalities and triggers better.
