Hello! My name is Jackie. I'm 22 and animals have always held a special place in my heart. I am particularly interested in getting involved with aspects of rehabilitation as well as advocacy and education attempting to change society's views on how we perceive and interact with wild animals. My boyfriend and I rent the main floor of a house in Kitchener. We have a fully fenced medium sized backyard with close access to the conservation area.
Here are a few of my values surrounding animal welfare topics to help you decide if I'm a good fit for your pets:
-I believe in NO KILL shelters
-I DO NOT believe in breed discrimination
-I believe in an Adopt Don't Shop mentality
-I believe in the advocation of animal welfare
-I believe in the humane treatment of ALL animals
-I believe in educating the public on wildlife issues (especially getting people in cities to understand the impacts of wildlife issues since this is the population that is often less impacted, and therefore more ignorant to it)
-I believe in banishing peoples fears of wildlife by proper, factual education
-I DO NOT believe in bounties
-I DO NOT believe in animal testing, and wish to promote 100% cruelty free products
-I believe in educating yourself on how animals communicate to ensure their behaviour is not misunderstood

I have always had animals, both growing up and as an adult. Currently, I own two rescue cats, some hermit crabs, hamsters, aquatic animals and often care for my parents' dog. I have also volunteered at the KW Humane society socializing the animals for adoption. This year I am taking a pet first aid course and hopefully becoming certified as a CCS Dog Trainer as well as taking a program in Animal Welfare through Thompson Rivers University.
