Tenille - ready and waiting to meet your doggo

Hi!

I'm Tenille. I'm fairly new to Calgary (South African) but I just LOVE dogs and I've spent years fostering and helping injured shelter dogs - from walking rehab (Sweetie, an Afrikaanis breed native to South Africa) to adopting a beautiful senior pitbull/ lab mix (Happy). She was the absolute light of my life. I love seeing joy on their old faces, they become like puppies again 🥹

I lived in YMM for one year and we raised a 9 week old husky pup (Willow) until she was good and ready to be permanently homed. She now has 2 brothers (canine 😂) and is loving life.

We love to go on adventures and stay at beautiful airbnbs and I always seek out the resident dog. It's become a bit of a habit in our household. If we are visiting friends, we end up seated on the floor with their dogs. It's just our way.

I have been through all the puppy training, I have had lazy dogs, energetic dogs and I love all ages and abilities.
my husband (Jared) is also very well versed with shelter dogs and even professional security dogs (a German Shepard named Jamie). He has worked animal Rescue with more aggressive cases where other handlers were unable. 

we do not currently have any children or pets, a Goldie is the hope for summer 2025, so I will treat your paw child as my own. 

I can offer 30-40 min walks along the Bow River, or any parks that you prefer for your pupper. As I'm new to this part of Alberta , I'm very much open to suggestions and your preferences. If you have a less social dog I can keep dog walks individual - please do not hesitate to let me know your doggie's needs. I typically only do one midday walk per week day in winter and a late morning one in summer months. When my husband is home he does longer runs with more energetic dogs so I can arrange that too.

As we have a dog run on our property, I have options for more social doggies who want to play and make friends. It's not a very busy dog run so less social dogs will be fine too.

I am perfectly capable of administering oral medications. My old girl Happy was very sick before she passed so I am familiar with ear medications, oral and deworming meds.

If you have a young pup, I specialize in teaching basic commands (sit, paw, stay) with positive reinforcement and treats. Pre-approved treats of course. I fully believe in happy but disciplined dogs, for basic respect of their owners.

If you are enquiring about dog sitting, I really can give all animals my undivided attention as this is my job. Besides a quick run to the store, I am there for cuddles, playtime and company for your fur child.

Just a note: due to my living arrangements, for any dog boarding or day care, dogs need to be potty trained please. Extremely big dogs will not be suitable to stay at our apartment (Great Dane, very big shepherd breeds, boerbul breeds etc) due to limited space. I'd say the biggest dog size that I can accommodate at home would be comparable to the average female golden retriever. (I'm happy to walk and provide all other listed services for bigger dogs - no problem) . Crates are optional and I'm happy to have dogs sleep in our main bedroom, just not on our bed. All dog food and treats to be provided for these 2 services (dog boarding and doggy day care)

I am currently studying canine vital signs and wound care to add to my skill set. 

Currently we stay in NW Calgary in a pet friendly apartment. We have dog parks surrounding us. We are a 5 min drive to Edworthy park and a lovely walk along the bow river.

My husband is away often for work but when he is around he loves to help out with ANYTHING dog related.
