Hi, I'm Brenda! :)
I am a full time dog sitter able to travel all around Edmonton and area. I have a side hustle of making paracord dog collars and leashes, selling them at markets around the city.
I'm a born and raised on the prairies where I grew up with a family dog, who sparked my passion for animals. I started off working in doggie daycares after high school and when I moved to Vancouver a few years later, I got my diploma for Veterinary Office Assistance and got experience and valuable skills working at a veterinary clinic. I spent three years in Vancouver where I started my pet services business and fell in love with the city, but sadly rent was too much in the end and I relocated back to my home terrain in Edmonton, where I am creating a solid foundation to grow my dog sitting business.
I am fascinated by animals and am studying up on dog and cat psychology and animal behaviour to better understand and effectively communicate with them. I also have some training in animal massage and am building my skills on any willing pet. I use only positive training techniques and am 100% force free.
If your pet is diabetic or on any medication, I am trained and able to administer any medication needed. I have post-surgical care experience, basic grooming skills, nail clipping, wrinkle and ear cleaning, among many other skills. I deal a lot with dogs who are dog-reactive and am used to/comfortable handling dogs with behavioural issues and ‘aggression’. I love cats too, and I have experience giving medication to cats. I use positive training techniques with all the animals I work with and carry a pet first aid kit on all walks, as well as water and a water bowl. Animals are very reactive to energy, so I consciously work to stay calm and am mindful of the animal’s energy to better help the pets needs. I have always been more comfortable around animals than I have with people and building a business around my passion was the best decision I've made.
More about me: I have moved around a lot and lived in Saskatoon and Vancouver, but I still consider Alberta and Edmonton to be home. My dream and a long-term goal that I am working towards are building a tiny house and having land where I can foster animals and run an animal rescue. I have many animal rescues all around the world on my bucket list that I would love to be able to spend time volunteering at and I am passionate about advocating for animal welfare, so I hope to be able to make a bigger impact within the animal rescue community worldwide and locally.
I live in a converted camper van seasonally allowing me to freely explore Alberta and avoid paying rent on a house I rarely stay at since I'm usually house sitting. I love being outdoors and this lifestyle allows me to have the great outdoors as my backyard where ever I go.
Brenda is an excellent pet/house sitter. We had her look after our home and pets for a few days while we were away and everything was immaculate when we got home on top of the pets looking/acting like everything was great. We are very happy with Brenda's service.
Brenda is great house sitter for pets. She is natural at pet care and very relaxed with excitable pets like mine. The best attribute was getting my dogs out for a daily exercise. Great experience:)
