Hi!
I'm Julia, an enthusiastic 27-year-old pet lover from Toronto. I grew up with a dog and currently have two cats: Frasier and Niles. I love cats, dogs, and horses and I have experience with all three. I spent the 2015-2016 school year abroad in England, where I worked as an au pair. Aside from the two children I cared for, my host family had a cat and several horses. The horses were just a short drive away from the family's home, so I spent a lot of my free time riding. With the rest of my free time, I volunteered at the Salisbury location of Dogs Trust (an animal welfare charity with 20 rehoming centres across the UK). While at Dogs Trust I walked dogs, played with dogs in the centre's outdoor compounds, and spent time with dogs in the "real life room"-- a simulated home environment to help acclimate dogs who hadn't had a proper home before to typical family life. Usually, the dogs who needed time in the "real life room" were retired racing greyhounds, who weren't used to things like the TV being on. I loved volunteering with Dogs Trust, and now that I'm back home in Canada I would really like to spend more time with dogs. I've been begging my mom to get a dog or to let me start fostering dogs, but she says no. So pet sitting/dog walking is the next best thing! I have a terrible bird phobia, but otherwise, I'm happy to care for just about any animal!
