My name is Gabe. I am a Montrealer living in Toronto, working remotely for a company based in Montreal... I'm currently an Experience Producer with e180, a small company with the objective of 'unlocking human greatness by helping people learn from each other.' I'm also a certified Integral Personal Development Coach and facilitator.
I studied Communications and video production. In my career, I've worked in communications and marketing, community building, event planning and project management. I particularly enjoy working with people.
I have a great love for the outdoors. My favourite activities include running, canoe trips, camping and cross-country skiing. When I am not outside, I like to read, watch movies, play guitar and cook. I live a calm life with my wife in Roncesvalles. We don't smoke or stay up late. We're in our mid-thirties and have been married for over a decade. We don't have kids.
When I was a kid, we got a dog named Kina. She was a black standard poodle that I loved dearly. She was smart, sassy and fun to be around. I've been a lover of animals ever since. My mom currently has two dogs (Peluche, Pina) and a cat (Patate) and I spend a lot of time with them. The reason we don't own a dog might seem corny in the context of Pawshake but it's because I'm a complete sucker for a sad face and would never be able to leave the house if I did. I would feel obliged to take them on long walks multiple times a day and I would feel bad leaving them alone. The other problem is that I travel quite a bit for work and pleasure and the cost of boarding a pet would be quite high.
I've had a lot of experience with animals. I will happily walk them, play with them and watch over them when need be. I have a very calm disposition and most animals take to me. My wife has called me a dog whisperer in the past. I'm not sure that's true, but if your dog was around as I worked, I'd probably strike up a conversation with them, however one-sided it may be. As for what I can offer in more specific detail: I'm happy to take them on 3-4 walks a day: two longer ones (30 min+) and two shorter ones (15-25min) during a day, depending on how long I have them for. I work from home, so I would be with the dog 90% of my day, if not 100%. If I do leave, it would be for less than an hour for an errand where I don't feel comfortable or can't bring them along for whatever reason. There are no other pets in the house. I live with my wife, who is also an animal lover (She dreams of nothing more than hosting a basset hound...) Unless the dog is very big, they are welcome to sleep anywhere; including our bed. I have a large balcony for warmer days when they might want to hang out and get some fresh air. However, this is not an outdoor space where I would take them out to relieve themselves. I would take them on walks throughout the day, as necessary, based on the client and animal. I'll happily provide you with references if necessary.
