About Trish
Hello how are you doing. My name is Trish, I've been a dog caregiver for 20 years. I've had at least two family dogs of my own, one of them for 14 years and the other for 6 years. My first furry friend gave me tons of support and helped others in my life to overcome their fear of dogs (Phoenix). My second dog was such a loyal, smart dog who was extremely affectionate (Kodak). When Kodak was 1 years old we got him into PetSmart group dog training classes about once a week, we learned so much. Eventually Kodak would experience seizures and we became aware that he was epileptic. We would give him medication orally everyday with his two meals and it became a norm in our lives. Eventually at 6 years old Kodak suffered a extremely long seizure that ended in him taking his last breath. I absolutely adored Kodak, he gave me so much love, support and went for fun adventures with me. Kodak's passing has been extremely hard for me and because of his condition I am looking into animal first aid to become educated on these situations. Ive looked after many family/friend's dogs, dogs in my neighbourhood and new clients. Im very passionate about understanding your furry friend's need/wants and give them tons of love. Thank you for taking the time to read, I look forward to meeting yourself and your furry friend.
I currently work from home with my partner and am very flexible with my schedule. A typical day of doggy daycare: my owners bring their dog/dogs in the morning, I make sure that there is fresh water in their bowl/bowls, feed them if they haven't been fed and take them for a quick 15-20 minute walk. Then we relax, play and go for our second walk of the day for 30 minutes or an hour. Depending on when they get picked up I usually take the dog/dogs for another 15-20 minute walk and then they go home. Sometimes I will groom them during the day depending on what the owners have asked of me. A typical doggy boarding: I take the dog/dogs for a 15-20 minute walk, feed them and make sure there is fresh water for them to drink. Then we will relax, play and go for our second walk of 30 minutes to an hour. We then relax, play a bit and I feed them dinner in the evening. Then we will go for our last walk of the day for 30 minutes, come back, relax and or play. Before bed I will take them outside to the back or near my home to go potty and then we all go to bed. I either have the dogs on their bed/beds provided by the owners in our bedroom or our family room. I never leave them unattended, unless I have to use the washroom or cook. I always make sure that there isn't anything that the dogs can get into and have areas in my home that I do not want dogs in blocked. Also after feeding the dog/dogs I always wash their bowls to make sure they are clean and safe from bacteria. I also have extra dog toys, dog bowls, feeding mats, reusable pee pads, crates for time outs, a doggy playpen, dog towels, grooming supplies and healthy dog treats. I never feed or give dogs I care for things without owners knowledge. I also document their dog/dog's stay with me via text and pictures/videos. Sometimes if my clients are going away I will ask if I they have access to internet so they can receive pictures/videos of their dog/dogs.
I love getting to know dogs by playing games, going for fun adventure walks and teaching them fun tricks. I also love to give them tons of affection.
Things that I would love to know a head of time is are: is your dog's vaccinations up to date? Do they have any food allergies or allergies in general? Are they neutered/spayed? Do they get along with other pets? Do they take any medication and how do I give it? What Is their routine? Is there anything important I would need to be aware of for your furry friend?
