Hi, I'm Brenda! :)
I'm originally from Edmonton where I grew up with a family dog, who sparked my passion for animals. I started off working in doggie daycares after high school and when I moved to Vancouver a few years later, I got my diploma for Veterinary Office Assistance and got experience and valuable skills working at a veterinary clinic.
I spent three years in Vancouver where I started my pet services business, and now I've relocated back to my home terrain and have spent the past year meettin all the furry friends Edmonton has to offer.
I am fascinated by animals and am studying up on dog and cat psychology and animal behaviour to better understand and effectively communicate with them. I also have some training in animal massage and am building my skills on any willing pet.
Currently I have my days free to provide 24/7 pet care and I am participating in 3 Farmers Markets this summer selling dog accessories.
If your pet is diabetic or on any medication, I am trained and able to administer any medication needed. I have post-surgical care experience, basic grooming skills, nail clipping, wrinkle and ear cleaning, among many other skills. I deal a lot with dogs who are dog-reactive and am used to/comfortable handling dogs with behavioural issues and ‘aggression’. I love cats too, and I have experience giving medication to cats. I use positive training techniques with all the animals I work with and carry a pet first aid kit on all walks, as well as water and a water bowl. Animals are very reactive to energy, so I consciously work to stay calm and am mindful of the animal’s energy to better help the pets needs. I have always been more comfortable around animals than I have with people and building a business around my passion was the best decision I've made.
More about me: I have moved around a lot and lived in Saskatoon and Vancouver, but I still consider Alberta and Edmonton to be home. My dream and a long-term goal that I am working towards are building a tiny house and having land where I can foster animals and run an animal rescue. I have many animal rescues all around the world on my bucket list that I would love to be able to spend time volunteering at and I am passionate about advocating for animal welfare, so I hope to be able to make a bigger impact within the animal rescue community worldwide and locally.
Currently I am living in a converted camper van and will be travelling to Vancouver, BC early October where I will spend the winter and come back to Edmonton summer 2020. I will be able to house sit all throughout British Columbia and Alberta travelling to my clients as needed. I love being outdoors and this lifestyle allows me to have the great outdoors as my backyard where ever I go.
Brenda did an absolutely great job taking care of my cat. Dependable, caring and attentive, Brenda was easy to communicate with and very warm. It's obvious that Brenda is someone who loves animals, I highly recommend her services. Thank you Brenda!
