**** Update Feb. 2021: For the unforseeable future I will be working extended shifts at my regular full-time job. This means I will have reduced capacity to do home visits on the days that I work. My calendar will be updated to show the days where I am available for home visits. If you happen to need me on a day that shows I am unavailable (due to my job) I may still be able to accomodate you if it's just a morning or evening visit required. Please send me a message to inquire and I will try my best to help you out. Once the pandemic is behind us I hope to be returning to normal hours again. Thanks for your understanding! ****
Pets are my passion! Currently I am owned by three cats: Lola, Oscar, and Timber, as well as a Red Heeler mix named Chevy. They all keep my life busy and interesting. My full-time job is at the Calgary Humane Society where I have received lots of training and practical experience in both feline and canine body language as well as general animal handling. Force-free & fear-free training is what I have learned at this job which is something that resonates with me personally. This means I will treat your pets with compassion and respect.
You will find me to be a soft-spoken and gentle person whom animals generally gravitate to. I wouldn't call myself an expert cat handler by any means, but if there is a difficult cat at work that my colleagues are worried about handling they will usually call me over for assistance. I also enjoy other small animals such as bunnies, guinea pigs, ferrets, pocket pets (hamsters/gerbils/degus), small birds, and fish. If you need your pets to be checked on, fed, and played with - whether it's just one day or several days - I would love to be able to help you out! You can book me for either 1 or 2 visits/day depending on your pet's needs and I will stay with them for 45 - 60 minutes each visit. I will also, upon request, bring in mail/flyers, turn on/off lights, open/close curtains, etc. in order to make your home look inhabited while you are away.
I look after pets in the deep SE part of the city. This includes the following neighborhoods: McKenzie Lake, Douglasdale, Douglasglen, McKenzie Towne, New Brighton, Copperfield, Seton, Cranston, Mahogany, Auburn Bay, Riverbend, Quarry Park, Sundance, and Chaparral. If you live just outside of this range, please feel free to message me to inquire. Depending on the time of year and how busy my life is, I may or may not be able to accomodate you.
I hope to meet you and your pet/s very soon!
Mia continues to be the best pet sitter that we could have asked for. I believe this is the 5th or 6th time that she has looked after my cats and I will continue to use her services as long as she is still in the pet sitting business. Mia not only allows us to have a care free vacation, she also brought in a number of packages that we had delivered into our home, threw out the kitchen trash and our house was cleaner than when we left! She is truly caring and compassionate when it comes to our cats and she has a wealth of knowledge and experience working with animals. I always welcome any suggestions she has on finding a different litter or trying a different formulation of medicine because she is usually right :) thank you for taking such amazing care of our cats as always!
Mia was wonderful with our two cats! Great communication. We will definitely book with her again!
