I am a dog enthusiast! I'm currently in between owning my own dog so, in the meantime, love spending time with other's furry friends. 

I have experience with a variety of breeds, with most of my experience being with border collie/healer mixes, and golden retrievers. I've learned that each dog/breed speaks their own language and has their own personality and behavioural traits. Taking the time to learn their language and establishing a connection with them are some of my favourite parts of dog care. Of course the snuggles and playing are right up there too!

I'm training to be a force free dog trainer and behaviourist, valuing the connection with the dog above all else. I use play, positive reinforcement, and consistency in my time with them. I believe dogs should have some autonomy in their lives, so I offer choices when possible. I enjoy teaching through play, but am also able to give gentle and firm guidance/redirection when needed. 

I have experience with senior care, complex medical needs and diverse abilities and mobility needs, and high reactivity or anxious dogs. I'm trauma informed - I give the dog time and space to establish safety, and never push interaction. I watch their body language for cues of needs. 

I believe all dogs really just want to be loved, and I have love and patience aplenty. 

I live in Sooke, right on the beach, with a large playing field out front, and the Sooke Hills 5 minutes away, so it's easy to find and play in the right environment for your dog.
