My name is Amanda and I going into my fourth year as an undergraduate Pscyhology student at the University of Toronto. I grew up surrounded by pets, at one time having six pets in my house at the same time. These included two dogs, one of which I adopted as teenager and helped raise from puppyhood. I have loved pets for my entire life, and spent the majority of my childhood wanting to be a vet. I have always taken to being one of the primary pet caregivers in my family, and loved taking my dogs on long walks around my neighborhood and through the woods by my home. Living in Toronto for university has left me really missing having pets around. That is why I was ecstatic to find out about this app, as I would love nothing more than the opportunity to hang out with pets whenever possible.Â
Aside from having my own pets throughout my life, I have plenty of experience caring for other people's pets. Before I moved to Toronto I was known in my neighborhood for always being more than happy to walk, check in on, or board my neighbors various pets when needed. I have walked dogs of all sizes and strength levels, as well as taken care of turtles, geckos, cats, and rabbits. I am very punctual and organized, so I will never forget to check in on a pet and will always show up on time to feed or walk them. I am happy to go on as long walks as is ideal for the dog, just let me know how long you usually go for and if you have any other special requests! :)
I live in a house in downtown Toronto that has a fenced in backyard that is perfect for dogs. My past upstairs neighbor had a large dog who used this space and was very satisfied. My unit also has two floors with plenty of space for a pet to walk around and relax, and is kept clean and organized. I would be able to put a crate or bed in my room as well if needed. However due to the space restraints, I would only be able to board one dog at once. I also have experience adminstering oral medication if needed as well as taking care of a blind pet (my dog Dash was blind for most of his life).
I live with many roommates who are all very pet friendly. The pet would be allowed in my room as well as the common spaces of the house, and my roommates would love the opportunity to play with and pet them as well. I will be working over the summer and then going to back to University next fall so I do not have 24/7 availability but I have flexible hours and will only be working during the day time on some days of the week. I will not have a set schedule that I know of, so my availability will be more of a case by case basis.
My top priority is creating the most safe, warm, and comfortable environment for your pet. I will keep you updated throughout the whole time they are in my care with as many pictures and messages as you would like. I am happy to discuss any more specific details and would be super grateful for the opportunity to meet your pet :)
Thank you Amanda for taking care of our boys
