As a professional pet care provider and dog walker, I am happy to care for your dog(s) in their home. Either by providing walks tailored to each dog’s needs, or visiting to feed, provide a quick potty break, and/or provide socialization for your pet.
I am a DogSafe Certified caregiver with over 9 years experience as a pet care professional; both as a dog walker and kennel attendant with a municipal animal shelter. Happy to work with various dog breeds, ages (seniors always welcome), and behaviours (specializing in working with anxious and/or reactive dogs others may find difficult).
Currently I have two Nova Scotia Duck Tollers, Penny and Nemo. Penny is 9 years old, loves cuddles, hiking in the woods, learning new tricks, and competing in Rally-O. She has earned the following titles: CGN, RN, RA, CRN MCL, CRA CL, CRX MCL, CRNT MCL, NTD, ITD, ATD, ETD. Nemo is 4 years old, struggles with severe anxiety but has made huge strides since joining our family. He loves to play fetch, run agility, and sniff every blade of grass while on a walk. Nemo has earned the following titles: CRN MCL, CRA MCL, CRNT MCL.
In addition to dogs, I care for indoor cats and other small animals. Working at an animal shelter has provided me with training and experience in caring for a large variety of pets including; dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hedgehogs, rats, mice, hamster, gerbils, turtles, fish, and various types of birds. Visits are 20-30 minutes and can include a quick pee break, feeding, administering medications, and/or play & snuggles. Walks are 45 minutes to an hour.
Maria was of great help with my kitties during my vacation. She kept us updated every day with cute pics, and was on time for the couple of times we met in person. She also accommodated some last minute schedule changes in the visits. I certainly recommend Maria!
I absolutely love how much communication Maria provides while looking after our Kitties. It lets me know that they are in great hands with her!
I have worked as a dog walker leading group hikes for over 5 years, as well as worked as a Kennel Attendant for the City of Vancouver Animal Services. While working with Animal Services I received extensive training in dealing with difficult dogs as well as general care of dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals. To ensure the best care possible, I continue to attend petcare seminars and am an active member in the local dog community. Very excited to be attending the Karen Pryor Acadmey Clicker Expo in Jan 2020.
