Before I go into my love of dogs, I would like to share a bit about myself. I recently finished my 3rd year at the University of Alberta as a Psychology major and Film Studies minor with a 3.5 GPA. My inspiration for this field of study was my fascination with the uniqueness of people in their interactions with others, their environment, and themselves. While my more analytical side sparked interest in human interaction, my creative side was drawn to film. Again, each films individuality in style captured my attention and grew my love for the art form. I tend to keep a very organized space, which works best for me to achieve efficiency while being able to feel comfortable in this space. Outside of school, I enjoy rock climbing, playing soccer, and of course, taking my dog for walks.
Owning a dog my whole life has taught me to become very comfortable and enthusiastic around them, as well as completely enamoured by them! A common study procrastination method of mine is taking my dog (Willow) for a walk, giving her a bath, clipping her nails, and combing her fur. Willow was very energetic as a puppy, but with a few training classes, both she and I learned various methods that we still use today. Training Willow, and being old enough to really care for her from the beginning (as opposed to my previous dog) established my interest in dog care. While having one dog is definitely enough work, nothing would make me happier than to spend my whole day with new dogs, in which I can form new bonds with!
The specific services I intend to offer,
are dog walking, daycare (either at your place or my place), feeding, transporting, and overnight sitting (at your place). I am used to bigger dogs, but I get just as excited to spend time with the little ones as well! I have a station wagon with plenty of space in the back, so transporting crates and getting from A to B is no problem. I am comfortable going to the off-leash park, as my dog and I go there very often if your dog is able to go there or has leash anxiety. If you are interested in having your dog over for a daycare, they should be comfortable with other dogs, as my dog will be there. My backyard has plenty of space for playing, which will be inevitable with my dog, and my house is a 5-minute walk for the Whitemud ravine. Whatever size or breed, I will give your dog all the love and attention they deserve!
Sara was wonderful to deal with. We will definitely have her house sit again!
I have looked after dogs overnight, which included walking, feeding, and simply keeping them company. I am familiar with the training methods, which were used to train my dog, as well as crate training. I have not had any formal, long-term training, but I believe my extended experience with owning a dog has taught me the basics of care and proper treatment of a dog.
